Breastfeeding
Just wondering. How many of you ladies plan on breastfeeding (or are breastfeeding) your LO? Why do you plan/not plan on doing it?
My answer: If everything goes to plan on def. plan on breastfeeding. First off, it saves money of formula and 2- I have heard that its healtier for the baby (just what I heard). However, if I am out in public I will use bottle formula.

Re: Breastfeeding
I'm pretty sure that I will breast feed also... i will pump as much as i can though so that other people can feed them as well... I definitely want that closeness of breast feeding... but realistically I think that Shaun should feed them also especially when they are very young...
I dont even want to think about how much bigger they are going to get when i do get my bfp... my sisters are huge (shes having her baby today)... shes like dont worry im saving all my bras for you!! LOL

Re: Breastfeeding
DS just turned One and I think we are pretty much done BFing. I'm am so happy we made it a whole year! It has been one of the most fulfilling experiences I have ever had. It's a lot of hard work in the beginning, but it gets so much easier! It has been proven to benefit the mother's health as well as the baby's
I definitely hope to BF all of my DC

Re: Breastfeeding
i will try, hopefully it works out.
if it's too hard for me i have no problem stopping - i think having a stressed out mommy is worse than feeding formula. i think happy mom, happy baby.
hopefully i will be able to do it, i know that for some it isn't easy. but i think it has just as many benefits for mom as it does for baby so i think it would be good for us both.
i will be honest and say that the idea of it freaks me out a bit and i used to think it was kind of gross so hopefully i can get over that when the time comes...

Re: Breastfeeding
Im not going to.
1. My niplles are REALLY sensative. I dont know what to expect...but being sexually aroused while nursing my child is not something I want to experience.
2. I dont want to become a slave to nursing and pumping.
My MIL gave me some grat advice. She said make sure a LO goes on YOUR schedule, not the other way around. You cant go out, do anything, have a relationship with YOUR husband. Now, of COURSE she does not mean it literally (ie: feed them when YOU want, not when they are hungry).
But I like that advice. I like the fact that my husband can feed the baby at 3am. Or we can go out for an evening without me having to pump. Or even if we take a weekend break and grandma and grandpa have the kid.
Hope this helps.

Re: Breastfeeding
I did not BF my son, and I dont plan on BFing any subsequent children we have. DH was very supportive about this...MIL...well... not so much, but hey - they are MY boobs!
I think it's a beautiful and natural thing, and anyone who has the desire to do so, especially for an extended period of time, I give major props to...
Personally, I had zero desire to try it. That child had 41 1/2 weeks of my body, and frankly, I wanted it back. There is enough stress and anxiety associated with bringing an infant home as new parents, I didn't want to add more, and that is exactly how I felt about BF'ing, so I knew it wasn't for me.
Yes, there is a ton of nutrition in breast milk, but there are also mega nutrients and vitamins in formula. The nurses in St. Charles didn't push it on me (I've heard that nurses in other hospitals are very opinionated on the subject and make women feel guilty about NOT BFing - like their child will be malnourished or will contract every germ/virus/disease known to human kind because you dont BF). It's just simply not true. Not that there aren't benefits to breast milk - there are plenty. But formula isn't the DEVIL.
It's all a matter of personal preference. GL to you all. And for those of you still on the fence, dont worry. You'll figure out what is right for you.

Re: Breastfeeding
I did it with DD for 3 mos and it was by far the hardest thing ever...I don't plan on doing it for DC #2...although I do feel some guilt that DD got to and the next one won't but it was way too emotionally and physically draining for me..and I never felt fully comfortable doing it...

Re: Breastfeeding
I will try. Hopefully it works out. My friend's baby did not "latch on" and she couldn't. But she pumped for as long as she could. So I will do this if I need to.

Re: Breastfeeding
I tried breastfeeding my son, but he would just not latch on. I really wanted him to get breastmilk so I would up pumping and giving him breastmilk from a bottle.
I will attemt to BF again with baby #2, but if does not work I will go with the pumping again.

Re: Breastfeeding
I have always said I will not breastfeed. I doubt I will change my mind. It just isn't for me. I am very uncomfortable with the idea even though I know it is a natural thing.
