Adoption...is it something you've discussed or thought about?
I was just wondering...I'm a bit earlier in the TTC game...but for those of you trying for longer...is this something that you've given any thought to? has it come up in discussion with DH as an option should your efforts not work out in due time?
Just something that has popped into my head. I've always wanted to concieve and carry naturally and nurse ...but I just sometimes think to myself "what would I do if this wasn't in the cards for us? what would I do if we found ourselves trying and trying and constantly let down? what is our breaking point where we stop and say "let's explore other options" and I wonder if that became a reality what my husbands true feelings would be on adoption.
just wondering if the same thoughts come into your minds ever.

It has come into my mind before. I've actually asked DH about this and he said he would adopt 100%.

Thats actully something Ive never even thought about let alone spoke with DH about. That being said, I def. would consider adoption if TTC wasnt working for me.

I've thought and done research about it. DH and I are both completely open to adopting, unfortunately it's so expensive that it's probably not something we would ever be able to do.

Just curious, how much does it cost? I had no clue it was that expensive. That is not fair b/c it is such a nice and generous thing to do!

It really depends but based on most of the research I've done it seems anywhere from 20-50k is the norm.

my husband said he wouldn't, but i am not sure if he was told it wasn't going to happen if his mind would change. Me personally would consider it.

I've discussed it with the DH. I was going to give TTC 2 years then start the adoption process, however DH doesn't want to adopt.
We'll see what happens, a lot can change in 2 years. . .

An alternative to adopting would be to foster children and then adopt. I have family members that have adopted 8 foster kids. 3 of them came to them as babies! It really is a wonderful thing for these kids.

i think we would do it.
it's something i think i would like to do in the future but i also want to experience the magic of pregnancy and birth for myself.
down the road it might be something we would look into if we couldn't have our own baby. after my nephew and neice were born it really kicked in that you don't have to bear a child to feel a bond and love for them. i don't think i would have a problem bonding with a child that wasn't biologically mine. when i was babysitting for my nephew and neice as infants i could feel my maternal instincts kicking in (going from not knowing what to do to having everything under control) and it was amazing  so after those experiences of bonding with children that aren't even blood related to me (they are SIL's children) i know i could love an adopted child like my own.
but DH and i would both love to have our own child that we created and i carried.
but short answer, yes we would consider it.

im onto month 17 of TTC #1. it would have been irresponsible of DH and I to NOT talk about it.
basically we will do it once all options to have a biological child are exhausted.

We considered this well before we even were TTC. I feel the same going into #2. I dont want to do RE treatments and such so if we can't have #2 we will look inot adopting.
We have an adopted niece as well!

We discussed it and he is open to the idea BUT is also very weary about it. I think it would be an absolute last choice. I think he would rather try artificial insemination, donor or sergeant mother b/f adoption.
