how soon after going off the pill?
How soon after going off the pill can you actually get pregnant at the absolute soonest? (like, you stop taking the active pills... and then you would ovulate 2 weeks later.. which is when you could get pregnant?) Is it true that as soon as you stop taking the pills they are out of your system right away?
Question #2: I know people refer to pregnancy as 9 months, but I've also seen people say it's really 10 months. How long is it and when does it count from?
(Backstory: Have a family wedding next year and we are planning to go off the pill a few months early and see how my cycles are because I expect to be irregular. However, I'm willing to go off the pill 1-2 months later than we had been planning, depending on timing, to avoid the chance of magically getting pregnant our first cycle against all odds and ending up 9 months pregnant for the wedding)

Re: how soon after going off the pill?
the first time you ovulate after the pill you can get pregnant. so if you take the inactives, get AF, then ovulate, you can get pregnant as soon as you ovulate. depending on when your body adjusts it can be anywhere from a week to months.
as far as the wedding goes, my first tip of TTC is dont try to plan anything. theres no way to know how long it will take. it will prob take significantly longer or shorter than however long you think it will take.
good luck

I know you are right. I'm just such a planner. I wish you knew from the onset how long it would take. I've always been irregular and have had a ruptured ovarian cyst, so I'm expecting we may not have the easiest journey, but I'm also afraid that if we start TTC before we are ready we will be one of those couples who gets pg right away despite all odds. What is that saying? When people plan god laughs?

Re: how soon after going off the pill?
I didn't get my period for over 90 days after going off the pill. I had to be given another pill to "kick start" it. My second cycle was 87 days long. You just really never know.
You can always go off the pill when you plan to and use backup protection or pull & pray to lessen your odds for a little bit to see what your body does.
Pregnancy is considered 40 weeks, which is somewhere between 9 and 10 months depending on the calendar year. You're usually pregnant for about 9 months from when you figure out that you are. The best way to calculate (IMHO) is to count backwards 3 months from your last period once you know you're PG. (Didn't work for me, though, since my cycle was so long and I got PG on CD47.) But, for example, if your LMP was October 1 (10/1), you'd count backwards 3 months and your due date would be around July 1 (7/1).
HTH!
Oh, and didn't John Lennon say "life is what happens while you're busy making other plans"?

Re: how soon after going off the pill?
I haven't been on the pill in a few years.
But when I originally stopped taking it my dr. told me to wait 3 cycles before TTC to give my body a chance to get back into its own cycle.
I waited the 3 months, then after 3 months of TTC I was pregnant with my first.
Like a PP said, don't try to plan when you will get pregnant because you just don't know. And when you stress over it you loose the fun of TTC plus you can screw up your cycle
HTH and good luck!

Re: how soon after going off the pill?
I went off the pill in April, but we didn't start actively trying until July. However, my dr said that we could get pregnant right away like the PP said. So beaware it could happen very quickly for you. In addition, I have had ruptured cysts (many over the years that started happening when I was 18!) and we had no problems getting pregnant (I just got my BFP yesterday and it was our 2nd month trying) so you may not have issues either. Good luck!
