Thatched Cottage... be honest

This is a really good location (in regards to placement on the the Island) for my baby shower. I wanted a buffet & they offer one which I really like. I went their for a bridal shower & while it was beautiful I recall the food being HORRIBLE. Has anybody else had horrible food there?

I just remember greasy, soggy eggplant rollitini. I don't even think I ate at that shower.

I was just there recently. I loved the outdoor area. The food was not great. In all honestly, it was typical, mediocre catering hall food. Nothing special but not the worst. The pasta was mooshy (big pet peeve) the potatoes were greasy. The chicken I had was decent. The salad was good. The cake was good.

Completely agree. I think it's BEAUTIFUL - but I think the food was just.. average and exactly what I would expect at a catering hall. I had more of a problem with the smell... the last time I was there (for a Sweet 16) they had a very musty smell in one of the rooms. I don't remember it smelling like that when I was there for a wedding a few years ago though.

I was there about a year ago for a brunch shower--the food was pretty good. Maybe that's an option? I think breakfast foods are harder to screw up!

I have only been there once and it was 5 years ago. Let's just say we stopped to eat on the way home! Chat Icon

I was there last May and actually thought it was decent. I dont remember the food being remarkably bad or good, just typical catering hall food. But TBH when they're making mass portions of food like that, I never expect it to be great and am rarely impressed by catering hall. I liked the atmosphere there!

Re: Thatched Cottage... be honest

I just attended a wedding there last month. The cocktail hour was not bad, dinner was barely edible.

But, it is a lovely location. The cocktail hour had the doors open to a patio on the water and, imo, sitting out there for an hour with a glass of wine, makes up for a lot.

Maybe do a cocktail hour/buffet brunch type of party???

I agree. The cocktail hour was good but I couldn't eat my dinner nor could DH.

My mother went to a wedding there in June 2009 and raved about the food.
