When did you start working out after LO was born?

I am in the clear as far as my health is concerned. DS is 8 weeks this week and I am EBF. Problem is he is not sleeping on any really consistent schedule as of right now for me to say 'Ok I'll workout at such and such time'. He's either up after a brief power nap or I'm sleeping too because I'm exhausted.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Chat Icon

It was probably about 10 weeks after #1. I was just overwhelmed and such.

After #2, I was walking at the 2 week check up and running at 5 weeks PP

both were c/s!

eta: both were EBF

pretty early but i couldn't wait. i was tired of being so inactive...i had a c/s both times. first time i was running 5 wks (light jogging with walk breaks) second time was walking both kids in double stroller about 2 miles at 2 wks PP and then running again maybe 6/7 weeks after. in the early weeks it was easiest for me to workout while walking/running with the baby in a jog stroller b.c it guaranteed me a workout.

ETA i EBF too and it did add to the challenge..also once they were STTN i was able to really dig my heels into working out and losing weight. when you are sleep deprived it is SO hard to workout!

I feel like I'm going to get stuck waiting until he is STTN. Ugh I've already lost a little more than half the baby weight but I'm freaking over my pants not fitting right now. It sucks it's been so hot so I've barely taken any walks with him this summer too.

Chat Icon that's ok! i know how hard it is! i was 60lbs overweight when DS was born last july. i immediately lost 30 lbs through BFing, loss of water weight etc. then a slow 10 lbs came off-then nothing for months and months. once DS was 7 months he started sttn and that made life "normal" for me. i also weaned him which helped me lose an additional 5-6 lbs. the i got serious with my running and joined WW so like by 11 months PP i was feeling better, almost back to my best weight. it takes time and patience but you will get there! be easy on yourself. you're only 8 wks pp!Chat Icon

I started back at the gym after my 8 wk clearance but it wasnt AT ALL consistant. I was basically happy if i got to one spin class a week OR was able to get on the elliptical 1-2x a wek.

START SLOW. Set SMALL goals. As your DC starts sleeping more (and you too), you will get back in

GOOD LUCK

I agree setting small goals is the way to go.

If there are classes you like taking, maybe see if DH or someone can watch the baby during those times as well so you can have time for YOU!

For me I aim to go to an 8PM class 3 nights a week.

My DS is obviously a lot older, but that time works because DH tends to be home from work by then, and it's close to DS bedtime hour so he doesn't have to do much with him.

I hear you sister! I thought having maternity leave in the summer would be fantastic for getting back into the shape but this heat has been killing us!

I am not quite 5 weeks PP and I plan to start next week at 6 weeks as soon as my midwife gives me clearance. I have my appointment in the morning and will be out jogging that afternoon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am going to try and get my workouts in during the morning while DH is still home and I feel the most energetic.
