so i get an email...
from a friend asking me if it would be alright if she could bring her 3yr old son with her to my shower. This little boy is really a good kid and probably not misbehave but i don't think that he really belongs there. What do i tell her? I would really like her to be there.

The same thing just happend to me. My dear friend is really stuck for a sitter and I really want her to be there, so I said she could bring her two year old daughter.I think my mom was none too happy- but I love this girl and she would do anything for me. so.....

We told all the moms that they were more than welcome to bring their children.
And every baby shower I have been to has had kids/babies present.

My friends that had kids and couldn't get sitters brought them to my baby shower-I didn't mind.

I just couldn't imagine wanting peope to come and share in the joy of my future child while asking then to leave their's at home. JMHO.

I've never been to a baby shower where kids/babies weren't invited. I thinks it's cute. It sets the tone. Children are the root of why you are there in the first place.

I've been to showers where they weren't invited & where they were (more with them there). Perfectly acceptable, but if you're not comfortable than tell her no. I've only brought my daughter to my SIL's shower at her specific request.
I think once your baby is here, you'll appreciate people being more understanding about bringing kids to parties.
Enjoy your shower! Oh & why is she calling you to ask?? She should call the host.

Good question! Don't know why she called me, but it's probably cause I know when it is, but thats all i know.

A shower is not like a wedding, it's not a formal evening affair so I'd have no problem with the little boy being there, especially if it meant my good friend was able to come.

I would also tell her it was okay unless of course you really dont want children. Especially since you said hes well behaved it may not be a problem.

I had a few people bring their kids to mine and it turned out fine. I hadnt been to a shower where there were kids present but this worked out okay.
