We did them ourselves, rented 3 machines for 24 hrs from home depot. $80 each one per 24 hours. DH, dad and bro did hallway living room, 3 bedrooms in 1 day and DH poly in same day.

i forgot how many sq feet off hand but we did a front bedroom, living room, dining room and hallway and it was (sand and poly) $900 with boards being fixed and a saddle put in.
So unless they are huge rooms I think it would be around $400-600
|

i recently called a few guys for estimates, my floors are getting done next week. i have a split level house, and we got estimates to do our LR, DR, 2 sets of stairs (up to the BR level and down to the den level), hallway, and 3 br's, we got estimates from about 1400-2850 from different people. (this is just for sanding and polyurethane).

We had ALL the floors in my two level 3 bedroom house (incl living room; dining room & hallways) finished 2 years ago for about $1,600 (i think). It might have been $1,200 but i can't remember exactly at the moment.

I think we paid around $3/sf for sanding, staning, and sealing (polyurethene). We also had a staircase done and some other work... If would be more like $2/sf for just sanding and poly with no stain. We were very pleased with the company use used, too -- Morgan O'Brien. My entire family has used them with great results.
