WWYD?
My gastro agreed to prescribe IVIG which is supposed to help with my immune issues that are hurting my pregnancy changes.
I have Crohns and it's autoimmune.
It's been three weeks and he hasn't written the letter of medical necessity that we will need to get it through the insurance company.
I call and call and his staff tell me they keep telling him and nothing happens.
I don't know what to do. I will need this medication soon. My last option is doing a low dose out of pocket. The regular dose would be more effective but unless it's covered it will be cost prohibitive.
My gastro knows all of this. I asked his staff if there is a problem. They saod none that they know of. If he has changed his mind about prescribing it, I just need to know. Don't leave me hanging. He did give me the script already and the notes he put together but not the letter. That is the last piece.

Re: WWYD?
Is there any way you can speak to him in person, via phone or even if it means making an appointment. I have learned if it is something important to completely bypass the office and speak directly to the doctor. And I don't feel guilty about it anymore either GL!!!

Re: WWYD?
OMG - this is crazy. Its like thanks for helping but your not helping. I would call to speak with him or make an appointment to talk to him and explain that you started already and its going to take time for insurance to review. I guess I would pay OOP for this first time and hope he comes through. Good luck!!!

Re: WWYD?
I just saw him 3 weeks ago. He wrote up the notes and wrote the script but the letter is the thing that I need.
His staff emails him everytime I call.

Re: WWYD?
Ugh - so annoying. I hate when Dr's do this. He is probably sipping marqueritas at his hamptons house while you are freaking out.
I would say your best bet is to either demand a call back from the doctor or try to make an appt. Worse case scenario if you can afford it i would plan to pay out of pocket for now
