Had my GYN Appointment
I finally went to my new OB-GYN today to talk about ttc and my irregular cycles. My cycles vary in length between 45-80 days and I don't think I've ever had one less than 40. I was nervous that she would dismiss me and tell me to come back after ttc for 6 months or a year.
She was AWESOME. In the first 2 minutes, she told me that there has to be something going on and she'd like to do a bunch of tests and probably send me to a RE. She sent me for bloodwork (7 vials!) and took some cultures so that when I do see the RE, that's already taken care of. And she scheduled me for a sono in two weeks. The way she put it, there was no reason to "beat around the bush." She told me that if I do have PCOS or another problem, then I need to see a specialist and not waste time trying when I'm not ovulating and it's not possible to conceive anyway.
She was very positive and encouraging, but also really no-nonsense and tough. I'm so glad I switched practices and found someone who took the time to listen to me! That's been a rare experience for me with doctors.
Anyway, I know a bunch of you have irregular cycles too and I thought you'd find my experience useful. Hope so!

Re: Had my GYN Appointment
Sounds like mind kinda dr!! I was in the same position and didn't want to waste time.......Even though I was only off the pill for less than 3 months, I started seeing an RE right away because I KNEW I had PCOS from when I was 15 and didn't want to waste any time!!
From the time I went off the pill till my BFP it was 6 months!

Re: Had my GYN Appointment
Thanks for the support, ladies! After sitting around and waiting (and waiting... and waiting...) for AF every month, it feels good to finally feel like I'm DOING something.
I'm a little freaked out by the doc's certainty that there is something "wrong" with me though. I always just thought I had kooky cycles. I never thought I had a problem I might need to treat with specialists and heavy meds.

yes - doing something should feel good (even if it's a littl scary) also remember that something "wrong" doesn't mean it's something bad or major. . it could be something that could be easily treatable!!
