Re: When to go to RE?
I was say it can't hurt. I was hesitant to go but I think that it was the best decision.

Re: When to go to RE?
Its up to you...most OB's will tell you to wait a full year before seeing an RE. I went and spoke to my doc at about 6 months of TTC (post m/c) and together we decided i would wait till I was trying the full year (including when I started before my m/c)
I was happy w/ my decision b/c I got pg on the next month. But I was starting to worry and I sometimes think and RE is the way to go...
But you have to be prepared for a lot of teseting, and appts and such which I wasn't...so that's why I decided against it.

Re: When to go to RE?
I would go but then again I did go. We were TTC for 6 months. During those 6 months we had 2 chemicals. I just decided that if something was wrong I wanted to know so I went to Dr. Braverman.
The first appointment was a consult. He sent my DH for an SA and a genetic testing SA. He sent me for a full panel work up. At CD3 I went in and he did an internal sono and took more blood. He then sent me to get an HSG.
So right now we are waiting for CD3 again and then I have to go in and he is going to start me on Clomid, Lovenox and possibly Metformin. He told me that he would bet his office that I would have a baby within a year.
It can't hurt to go...especially if your insurance covers it.

Re: When to go to RE?
If you insurance covers it, I would go! Don't worry about feeling like it is too early. I had a weird feeling more was going on and I was right. I tried 8 months on my own and then within 3 months of seeing the RE i was pregnant!
good luck

I always say see an RE now if you think there may be a problem. You don't need to wait a year......it's not like they can tell you have been trying a year to get pregnant.
Secondly, do NOT start Clomid until you have had all the testing done so that you make sure you even need Clomid. For all you know you may have male factor issues and then Clomid won't do a thing. OB's love to just throw everyone on Clomid without even trying to ascertain what the root problem is. See an RE BEFORE you take Clomid for sure.
Also, if you do start the Clomid with your OB make sure he is monitoring you VERY closely with blood work and sonos throughout your cycle. Good luck!

Re: When to go to RE?
We've been contemplating the same thing since we lost the baby in September. Now that I'm going through another loss, we decided enough is enough and made an appt with an RE for the end of July. I figure that it can't hurt! I also am in the process of switching OB's and the new OB is running a recurrent miscarriage panel on me right now. Even though I'm curious about the results she sees, I still think the RE would probably do even more extensive testing. I'm hesitant about all the appointments and testing too but I figure it's worth at least going to the initial consult.

Re: When to go to RE?
i would see a RE.. especially if ur ob is thinking about putting u on clomid. Lots of ob's (including my very own) give them out like candy... (mine gave me a script with 5 refills and told me to call when i got pregnant- went directly to a RE after that recommendation)
info on clomid - it can thin ur lining - if u do get pregnant and ur lining is not thick enough -- baby wont stick...
it can cause u to hyperstim - if u have too many follicles ur cycle may be cancelled (in a friends case they actually converted it to a IVF cycle)
when u go to a RE they monitor u and make sure theres no cysts, linings good, and make sure ur not hyperstimming.
Good Luck!!!
