Who took their temp?
Is it really important or is it just helpful?

Re: Who took their temp?
It's the only way to confirm ovulation, so IMO it's pretty important. OPK's can tell you that you SHOULD be Oing in the next 12-36 hours. But it's possible to get a positive OPK and still not ovulate, so temping let's you confirm if you did indeed O.

Re: Who took their temp?
I've been taking my temp before I've even started TTCing b/c like pp said I want to know if I am Oing every month. It won't help you with that month, but now I know I O on CD 14 or 15.
ETA: I tried OPKs this month and I got my + on CD 15 which according to temping is the day I Oed. So for me, I might O the day I get my + and not after. Only temping allows me to know this.

Re: Who took their temp?
I used an OPK this cycle and got a positive result on Day 26. I never got my period after that, so the positive result was misleading - it told me that my body was getting READY to O, but it never actually followed through. If I had temped, I would have known that. So when I didn't get my period for weeks and weeks after that positive OPK, I assumed that I was PG but I was not. If I had been temping it would have saved me from the sadness of all the BFNs I got.

Re: Who took their temp?
I found it to be VERY helpful and important. You will be able to look back on the prior month and see when you O'd and how your CM changed, and are able to then prepare for the following month. I thought it was interesting to see how my body was working.

Re: Who took their temp?
I didn't with either of my first 2 children and got pregnant quickly - less than 4 months for both - tracking nothing, not paying attention, and letting nature take it's course and not even a very busy course. This time things have been taking a lot longer - I am on cycle 9ish now - so I started temping last month. I say no not worth it if you are starting out but nice to track things when you have issues and kind of interesting to watch it progress. I am trying the temping, OPK, and CBEFM now - and they all pretty much have the same readings so if it doesn't happen soon not sure what to think.

Re: Who took their temp?
Its very helpful.....I used OPK this month and got a pos reading on CD10 and then i kept temping...my temp didnt rise at all (confirms O) and I was worried I didnt O at all but then surely CD 19 My temp rose. Tells you how OPK's are not that trustworthy!
