blood work question
I am going to get blood work done and the doctor said it has to be on day 3 of my period. Does anyone know why it has to be on day 3? TIA

Re: blood work question
I'm not sure exactly why but it has something to do with where your hormone levels should be and that is the best day to test for it. I have to do the same thing.

Yup, it's basically to get your baseline levels.

Re: blood work question
baseline. it doesnt HAVE to be day 3 - usually anything in the window of CD2-5 works.

Re: blood work question
They need a baseline of your hormone levels so as you go through your cycle they are able to determine if things are progressing as they should or if there is a problem whether it be with your hormone levels, uterine lining, ovaries, etc.

My RE gets them to me the same day. Usually early afternoon.

Did you go into your Dr's office to have the blood drawn? If so and it was before 9am, they normally have it back by like 3pm. If it's after 9am, they'll have it sitting in there fax machine in the morning when they open.

They should have them tomorrow afternoon if you went to the lab. It should be a 48 hours turn around.
