Confused about OPK- update!

So the past few months I have been using CBE OPKs. I was testing in the afternoon even though they say you can use FMU. I have a pretty regular cycle 28 or 29 days and each month I O'd on day 13 or 14.

This month, I started using FMU b/c I hate trying to hold it for 4 hours- I pee a lot! So now I am on CD 16 and still no smiley. The line on the test strip is there, but it's not that dark.
Do you think I just didn't O yet?
Anyone else using the CBE and find that testing in the afternoon worked better than FMU?

Update: I just tested and got a - Today is CD 17 so I guess I am just Oing late this month. If DH and I BD tonight, do you think it's too late?

FMU is not the best to use for OPK even though the package says it's ok.

I use the FR OPK and i try to hold it in for as close to 2 hours as I can make it in the afternoon and use that.
you don't need to hold it for 4 hours!

I have only used FMU and I have gotten a smiley every time.

It might be different for some people. I have read that some women never get a positive surge on an OPK.

maybe you didn't Ovulate yet? Did you just recently come off BCP?

I was a 28-30 day cycle and then all of a sudden i was a 36-38 day cycle.

I've always used FMU and gotten a A lot of things can delay O, travel, sickness, stress and if you just recently came of BC your cycles could be wacky for a few months. I'd keep testing and see if the lines get darker.

Thanks for the help girls! I did not just come off BC- in fact, I haven't been on in the pill in years. I've always gotten a smiley when I've used OPKs. Maybe I'm just going to O later than normal this month. If I don't get a smiley this month, I'll go back to testing in the afternoon next month.
