My name is really Anastasia it means to rise from the ashes, or be reborn. I didn't like it when I was young now I love it. I'll def go with something a little more main stream for my LO

I can't share my name because that might give away my identity
But...my dad wanted to name me Jane, which is my mom's name...My mom hated that idea, so my middle name is Jane instead.
I do really like my first name though - but there is no rhyme or reason as to why they picked it. Mom just loved it

My name, Antoinette, means "priceless" which I love
When I was younger, I didn't like my name very much because it was different. I couldn't find personalized stuff in stores. But most people called me by my nickname, Toni. When I was in fifth grade, my mom signed me up for intramural basketball and I was put on the boys team because she wrote Toni on the sign up form. They weren't able to switch me to a girls team because all the teams had been made up already. I ended up playing with the boys for a year In retrospect it was probably a good thing because I was really comfortable around boys as I got older but at the time I could have died!
Now, I love my name. It is uncommon without being "weird"

From what I was told my Grandmother (my Mom's mom) loved the name Nicolette (even though we are Italian and that is a French name) so my mom went with Nicole.
My sister's name is interesting because I named her!!! I was almost 3 yrs old when my sister was born and my parents thought she was going to be a boy so they had picked out Anthony but when she was born they couldn't use that name so I said name her Allison. My parents liked it and named her Allison. I got the name from a friend of my cousin who we still all keep in contact with.

My mother's name is Margaret, and my name Meghan is a derivative. My dad actually wanted to name me Reagan, but that was the little girl's name in Poltergeist so they decided against it. LOL My sister's name we actually picked out of a name book. Well we liked the name, Devin, and then found out it meant poet. My dad picked it.

Re: Cinco de Drinko QOTD*** Wepa!
My first name (Jennifer) doesn't stem from anything specific. I think my parents just liked the name. My middle name is after my mother's grandmother and is also my Mom's middle name.
I never liked Jennifer growing up and would always try to find new ways to spell it and make it different. Now, I do like it. And it's definitely better than what my mom wanted to name me - Destiny (no offense to anyone on here who may be named Destiny!).

I'm not named after anyone. My mom just liked the name so that's what she went with. I didn't really like it when I was young but now I love it. My middle name is my mom's middle name. If I have a daughter, I would like to use it as her middle name to continue the tradition.

Re: Cinco de Drinko QOTD*** Wepa!
The name given to me was Angelika, but people call me Angela, Angie, Ang whatever works for them This is my maternal grandmother's name. In my tradition you have to name your kids after your husbands parents first. If you run out of names - meaning you have 2 girls or 2 boys for example, you give the names of the mother's parents names to the kids. I know it's weird, because what are the chances that you will love those names to give to your kids right?

My first name is for one of my Dad's cousins and my Middle name was my paternal grandmothers maiden name. Jennifer Reeves. I have always loved my middle name and would love to pass it on. My first name is so common it always bugged me.

All the names in my family are Irish...Although I am not writing my name, it means "Ireland" but that is definitely not why they named me it! I think they just liked the name.
