Question about RE

We have been trying now for 10 months. I am out this month and I just do not know what to do anymore. I am only 26 and I know it takes time but I was wondering if you think its too soon to go to an RE?

Will they even see me this early into TTC?

Re: Question about RE

Definitely not too soon, although your insurance may require you to have been trying for one year before covering anything fertility related, so def look into that. I'm 26 also and TTC for 10 months also. We've done all the tests and I'm now on meds and moving to IUI. Turns out I'm not realeasing mature eggs. Better to get the tests done sooner than later so you know what you're working with. Good luck!

Re: Question about RE

I'm 25 and we have only been trying for 6 months, I have an appointment with an RE on May 3rd. I know I don't ovulate on my own so to me there is no sense in wasting another 6 months. I definitely don't think it's too early for you to see an RE, it can't hurt right?!

Re: Question about RE

It wouldn't hurt to call and make an initial consultation. Check with your insurance company about your coverage first. Textbook says, under 35 wait 12 months using no form of birth control and over 35 wait 6 months, unless you know there is an underlying issue (diagnosed PCOS, not ovulating, etc.). But honestly, go with your gut. If you think something is up, better to start with an RE sooner than later.

Re: Question about RE

Def not too soon. I started seeing my re after 6months ttc and i know others that started earlier, although they had known prexisting issues. I went because i wasnt ovulating or getting af post bcp. It wasnt til my first appt that i was dx with pcos. Good luck!

Re: Question about RE

I started seeing an RE after being off the pill around 3 months. I know that's SOON but I knew I wasn't ovulating and was also told 10 years ago that I very likely had PCOS. I didn't want to waste any time and my regular OB wasn't taking me seriously.

As it turns out I don't ovulate on my own and DO infact have PCOS. I'm so glad I didn't wait on it and took matters into my own hands. We're currently on our 3rd medicated IUI cycle.

ETA: To answer your question, I don't think it's too soon at all as long as your insurance will cover it! Age doesn't matter as far as being too young.. if you want to have a baby, that's all that matters. I'm 25 and seeing and RE. No need to wait Chat Icon

Re: Question about RE

i went to an RE when i was trying for 11 months. i think its close enough to a year that your insurance wont say anything.
i was hesitant to make an appt as well. i already had a DS, i had only just turned 29 that month and it was less than a year, but honestly i am so glad i went...i only wish i had gone sooner!!!

Re: Question about RE

I would definately go - theres no harm in at least having some tests done.

And if the insurance company makes you wait a year - then just say you've been trying a year - they cant prove thatChat Icon

Re: Question about RE

Thanks everyone! I just spoke to my insurance company and they said I can go and they do not have the one year thing. I am going to make an appointment at RSONY.

I am scared but also happy to maybe find out whats going on.

Thank you for all your responses and I will keep you all updated.
