Anyone own a house they USED to love but fell out of love with?
I used to love my house so much. But over time, it just doesn't suit my lifestyle or needs anymore. It makes me sad that I don't love it anymore. We put so much time, energy, love and money into it. I KNOW someone else will love it and the work we did to it, but it's no longer for me.
And now I just can't wait to MOVE.
Anyone else ever feel this way?

Re: Anyone own a house they USED to love but fell out of love with?
I don't feel this way - we just moved 7 months ago...BUT I worry that I will feel this way one day (in like in 5-10+ years)....
I could see how it happens...My DH thinks we could live here forever but if we had little ones I could see how we might need a bigger place even though we have 4 bedrooms and 2 living areas...kids just take over
Also, I am the type who gets bored - so I could see bein bored of our house after so many years - maybe that is b/c I moved around a lot and always looked foward to new places?

I'm sure this happens to many people as their lives progress...

Yes, having a child totally changed my wants and needs in so many ways. Word of advice, don't put too much $$$ into your home if you think you may fall out of love with it one day.

This hasn't happened to me (yet) but I could see how it might happen to people. You can out grow your house or it just doesn't fit your needs anymore. Totally normal.

Yep and we sold it and moved into our forever home. It was hard to leave our old house.. brought our babies home from the hospital there, kids first steps, parties... but we outgrew it.

It happened with our co-op. When we bought it, it was perfect and new and ours...
4 years later, it was our nightmare and I was glad to be rid of it...
However, it was hard to leave...I had a very hard time going back to clean it out...it was where we conceived our DD and where we brought her home from the hospital...where her perfectly constructed nursery was...all those memories hurt to leave behind...but I am so glad we moved on because our dislike of the place was quickly turning toxic...

That is great advice - we are trying to do all of our house projects on a budget for that very reason (just in case we aren't here long term) and also b/c of the state of the real estate market in FL...
I hope it doesn't happen because right now I love our place but I can see wanting our own yard and pool one day, a huge eat-in kitchen, more bedrooms, those are things we couldn't afford now but might want down the road...

Re: Anyone own a house they USED to love but fell out of love with?
I still love my house but with a child its not meeting all my needs anymore. I have a two family in Queens. I live on the top floor which is nicer than the first (has cathedral ceilings and a little more space) but no access to the bsmt from the inside and I have to go around the house to the backyard. Also, I only have three bedrooms (the master is small) and so if I have another child it'll be a bit tight). I think now I would prefer a one family, but the nice one families in Queens are very expensive and in Long Island the taxes are too high!!! We are torn right now as to what to do.

Re: Anyone own a house they USED to love but fell out of love with?
You are not alone. We bought our house and about a year or 2 later, I fell completely out of love with it. I'm so unhappy. I cry almost everyday. I honestly can say I hate this house. There is just not enough space for a family and it's just too tight. It really just doesn't fit our lifestyle, so I know 100% where you are coming from. I also feel very trapped and just feel I'll be stuck here forever, which makes me even more depressed. I feel like I'm throwing money away every single month on something I hate; that's what sucks the most. I dream of the day I will get my dream house, and who knows if that will ever happen.
Just know you are not alone
