Trader Joes - What makes it so great?
I always hear people raving about Trader Joes - but I don't really get it!
Can you tell me your favorite things to buy fro there? Preferably not frozen meals or things like that.... we have a $25 gift card to use and I have no clue what to buy there.

I can eat the whole box of their choc cat cookies for people. Low in fat and addicting.
ravioli's are so good
get their lunch meats
sushi
soups
any of their chocs are excellent (love the raspberry bars)
I get their veggie chips for company
As you can see I can go on and on

Its mostly organic and their frozen foods are soooo good...it just doesnt taste like processed foods.

I do most of my food shopping there. The quality of their meat and poultry is excellent and you cannot beat the prices. Huge bread assortment, cereals, frozen bagged veggies, frozen fish, and ready made meals. I got two gorgeous, marbled, filet mignons there for $13.00. At a butcher they would have cost me at least $20.They carry great coffee, teas, snacks that are on the healthy side. I also buy my flowers and doggie treats there!

HaHa, LOVE cat Cookies. TJs is so far for me now, but when I go home I always buy cat cookies.

It's not just certain must-have products that make it so great. It's the quality and the price. Like others have said, there is a lot of organic stuff, and even the non-organic stuff (cookies, chips, crackers, cereals, sauces, etc) tends to be "healthier" in that they never seem to have artificial colors/flavors, high fructose corn syrup, and so on.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but they have AMAZING cheeses... great selection and quality, for terrific prices. I love getting a few cheeses to serve with crackers and wine when we have people over.

We love the frozen steal-cut oatmeal. It's way way better than instant oatmeal.
Their iced-tea/lemonade is great too.

I also buy the Blu Italy seltzer water. It's really delicious for seltzer anyway, haha.
The frozen collosal shrimp are amazing as well.
Here is typically what I buy:
Skinless chicken thighs
Individually packaged chicken breast
Filet Mignon
Carne Asada stead
Lamb Chops
Ground beef and turkey
Bacon
Chicken sausage
Tzatziki sauce
Shredded parmagian cheese
Sliced muenster
boccocini mozzarella
hummus
ezekiel bread for me
7 grain for DH
Trader Joe's O's cereal
Strwaberry filled bites cereal
high fiber cranberry cereal
Fage Greek yogurt
maple syrup
Whole Grain pancake mix
Frozen peas, artichoke hearts, snap peas, balsamic glazed veggies, string beans, haricot verts.
I could keep going. LOL
My shopping trips for 2 weeks worth of food for 2 people, 3 meals a day has never been ore than $200.00.

They have GREAT cheesecake! And fantastic desserts! I enjoy their goyzas, too. A lot of stuff they sell makes great dinners but you can't find or is hard to find in a grocery store.

They have a great selection appetizers
Great selection of cheeses

Red Wine vinegarette salad dressing
Goddess Dressing
Choc cat cookies

I LOVE their grilled chicken-its not the frozen section, more in the "lunch" meals section. Its really good and REAL grilled chicken, not that fake shi.
I like their pizzas too-again, not frozen, but in tne lunch meal section, very good.
Their hummus/dips are always great

Just curios- why? This is the one I usually go to. I don't think I've even been to any others. Are the others better?
To original poster- I love Trader Joe's because it has lots and lots of healthy, yummy food at reasonable prices!

I don't like their fruits and veggies, I find they are fresher at WF.
I do like that they have goat mozz and goat chedder cheeses which is hard to find. I prefere goat over cow...
I also like their peanut butter...no salt added...love that!
I like their nut selection, and it's much cheaper than WF.
I also buy their whole wheat baking dough for homemade pizza.
Their frozen veggies are much better than supermarket brands although I usually buy fresh.
They have great cheap wine!
I do love the cat cookies but do not buy them because i have no self control.

I love them for their cheese section as well.
I also can pick up a lot of great spreads and such to put on toast or crackers that are difficult to find in my local grocery.
Their prices are great, but the cost of gas there and back makes TJ's a rare treat for me to go to since the closest one to me is in Merrick. I'm in Amity Harbor. 
When I lived in Long Beach I used to go to the one all the time in Oceanside. I find it's better to go during the week though to any of them----otherwise they are just super crowded and not worth it IMO.

Overall, they have a great selection of organic foods, both prepared and uncooked. I like knowing that I'm not eating tons of chemicals and hormones. For me, it's cheaper and closer to me than Whole Foods.
