Found Collie
I woke up this morning and found a Collie sleeping on my front porch in my dogs old bed that I leave on the porch. He won't let me near him, he just continues to run away, but he comes back after a hour or so. I don't know what to do. I put food out there for it. It looks like a family dog. I don't know what else I can do for it and it's freezing outside. He is Black & White and he has no collar. What should I do? Who should I call, that won't hurt him?

Can you try posting an ad on Craigslist under lost/found or pets.
Hopefully someone is looking for him/her.

post some flyers in the neighborhood, hopefully the owners will notice.
if you have an old blanket put it on the doggy bed. my dogs like to crawl under the blankets on the couch. hopefully he can keep warm.

I haven't seen him/her all day and I'm getting extremely worried, but it usually comes at night and we see it sleeping in the morning.
Hopefully I will see it in the morning, so I can take a picture of it and post it in the craigslist add. A few people replied to the add, so hopefully one of them is the actual owner of this poor dog. My husband left food out for it. I will keep you posted. I'm praying that nothing happened to him, because it's so cold.

Be careful with Craigslist if he comes back. Please try to find a way to make sure you have the rightful owner, kwim? I hope he is ok too.

What area are you in, anywhere near Coram? There's a related link from 11/20 below about a lost black and white collie in coram.. a long shot but I saw your CL ad that the dog looks dirty and matted like its been lost a while.. read that post below and see if maybe it is the same dog?

I think the best thing to do if you see him again is to call animal control. They can check and see if he is microchipped and give him food and shelter at the very least. Please keep us updated.

Unfortunately, the dog never came back, my husband and I searched for him/her around the neighborhood and in the country club I live next to, but there is no sign of him/her around. I hope nothing bad happened to it. Every morning when I wake up I hope it's there again, but it's not. I will keep you guys updated, but please keep this dog in your prayers.
