To Chart or Not to Chart??

Ok, so I came off BCP last month, and just got my first "normal" AF. So now we start trying...from listening to you girls I want to do everything, OPKs and temping in the morning. I want to make sure that everything is working right in case down the line we need to investigate I will have all the data.

However, DH says I'm going overboard and should just "relax and let it happen". He says that doing all this tracking will only stress me out and make me very upset if I don't get a BFP.

So what do you think? Would tracking everything this early when we are just starting be too much and mess with my mind? Or is it good to be informed?

TIA!!

Re: To Chart or Not to Chart??

Honestly I'm starting to chart this month and we aren't even ttcing yet. I understand the idea of seeing what happens first and then chart if it doesn't work. But I've had friends waste months just trying, because they weren't aware of how to chart.
Just for me, I'm not going to start OPKs yet, unless I am confused about my chart.

Re: To Chart or Not to Chart??

I just started charting this cycle, which is my third for the reason that you listed- I thought it was going to be super easy for me to get pregnant Chat Icon but obviously that didnt pan out Chat Icon

So if god forbid, I am not able to get pregnant on my own and need to go to a RE, I will have as much data as possible.

Also, I didnt want sex to be a chore- the ob/gyno told me to bd every other day between 10-20, charting helped me narrow down the three best days- so that the rest of the month, we can if we want and we are not forced

Re: To Chart or Not to Chart??

I just had an appointment with a new gyn last night and she advised me right now to not. I'm starting my 4th cycle after a miscarriage and she said as long as my periods are normal that there is no reason to start stressing out about it.

I did want to start charting but I get enough anxiety over all this already so for ME i think it's best to just not chart.

She did tell me to start bd on cd 8 and then every other day until cd 18. So we are going to try this way and TRY not to stress.

HTH and good luck with whatever you choose!

That's why I didn't at first - I certainly didn't need anything else to obsess over. BUT... now I wish I started earlier. Yes, it s*cks that it's taken months longer than expected to get pregnant, but if it didn't, I never would have learned as much about how my body works. Maybe I'm a TTC nerd, but I loved the free FF charting course. I love that charting gives me a visual of what's going on inside me. While it sucked to watch my temps drop last month (which indicates AF is on her way), it saved me from buying a HPT. And i had a little warning, so I had time to "adjust" to the idea of being out that month.

I found it more stressful when i didnt chart - each month when i didnt get a BFP i would wonder if we were even timing anything right.

Charting gives me piece of mind that we are doing everything we possible can .
