Katie won't let me swaddle her at all anymore!
She is only 12 days old...how can this be? When we swaddle her she kicks and grunts and squirms until she gets her hands free and then does the same with her legs! She can't even stand to have a blanket laying over her arms.
This seems so weird to me, I thought babies loved to be swaddled!

Julia was the same way, she didn't like to be swaddled at all, she would kick the blanket off all the time. Till this day she hates to have the covers on her. Some babies just dont like it I guess.

I just watched this video, The Happiest Baby on the Block - you should check it out. The pediatrician in the video tells of the 5 S's - swaddling, shhhshh'ing, side (put the baby in this certain side position), swinging, and I forgot the last S 
Anyway - our daughter sometimes squirms too when we swaddle - she's two weeks old - she loves to have her hands free. However, sometimes you need to do a few other things while they are swaddled and amazingly our daughter calms down. I swear - I wish I could bring this pediatrician home with us!!!!!!!!!!

Talia only let me swaddle her for 2 days. I guess not all babies need it or like it.

My 8 week old fights it at first and then falls asleep. If I don't swaddle her she moves her arms so much during the night she wakes herself up.

Ryan hated to be swaddled. He needs to sleep with his arms loose. He was only swaddled in the hospital and even then he would get annoyed about it.

Gianna was the only baby in the nursery who kicked her blanket off every time they tried to swaddle her. She really gave the nurses a hard time.

Lauren is only 5 days old, and like her older brother, doesn't want to be swaddled anymore either.

I actually only swaddled Emily for about the first week because she never seemed to like it very much...every baby IS different!!
