Update on our cats and moving
A few weeks ago I posted about moving overseas from Australia to Germany with our cats. I was really worried.
Well they are doing well.
In total they spent about two days away from us. Our pet transporting company picked them up the day we flew out and they stayed in boarding for one night so that we could get settled and pick them up the day after we arrived.
They were on the airplane for about 24 hours. They had a stopover in Singapore where they were given more water. No food is given to animals in flight. The day we went to pick them up it took about five hours to actually get them. It took so long because we have no car here and the cargo area / customs / Lufthansa "animal lounge" are is near the airport, but in a remote area where no buses / trains go to.
I can say if you plan to move your animals overseas, it is really worth it to hire a company that will do the paperwork for you. As we were running around from place to place to collect paperwork we met a man, who I think was from the NY area as he had a Hispanic American NY accent. He had to send his dog back because his vet forgot to stamp something. There was no way his vet could fax anything over as quarantine needed to see the original stamp.
Anyway, when we picked them up they were smelly cats [insert Phoebe Buffay singing smelly cat here]. We have bathed them since, but one cat needs another bath as I can faintly smell something.
They have settled in nicely but at times they are a bit more skittish than normal. They are also more clingy than normal. Is this normal? Every time we open the front door they keep trying to get out, which I think is normal. Despite all this, I think they are doing OK. They saw snow for the first time yesterday and are really loving the heaters (In Australia, central heating is not common).
Sorry for this being so long and if anyone has any questions about moving overseas with animals, don't hesitate to ask.
Thanks for reading!

I'm glad it went well!
Our cats are always a little more snuggly if they haven't seen us for a while.
