For those that had or will have a christening...
... what time will your party start? We just got an invitation to a christening for the child of a good friend of ours, and the party starts so late we can't bring DS with us so we have to find a babysitter. I was just wondering if anyone else finds it unusual (party is from 6PM to 10PM on a Sunday). It's also about 45 minutes from our house.

Our Baptism is at 10:30am with lunch to follow - It's on a Saturday.
6:00pm sounds kind of late for a Christening. JMO....

It doesn't matter for me but they want us to bring DS and we just can't do it with it being so late.

Our baptism starts at 2:00 and the party is from 4-8. I also think that is very late.

The church was at 12, and we had the party at 2pm. Thats weird I never heard of a christening party being that late at night...

Re: For those that had or will have a christening...
I recently went to a christining that late - I took my daughter with me even though she usually goes to sleep at 7 - she was really good actually - we left around 9 - she fell asleep in the car and I put her right in the crib when we got home and she was fine for the night.

Re: For those that had or will have a christening...
christening is during service which starts at 11am, refreshments immediately after in the family life center, then a BBQ at our house after that.....I guess it'll be around 2pm by the time we get home and it goes till whenever

I def. find that odd...
Chursh was from 10:30 to 11:30
Our party was @ 1 (but any family or friends that were at the church we invited to come early...)

Re: For those that had or will have a christening...
I definitely agree that it's a bit late. Our Christening is at 11 and the party immediately follows at 11:30 until 1:30. Short and sweet.

Re: For those that had or will have a christening...
Our party will start late also- 5:30, but this is because the restaurant only had 12-4 or 6-10 hours. The Church is at 2pm, so we really had no choice. I wasn't too thrilled with it being that late, but what can you do...

Re: For those that had or will have a christening...
We had a hard time figuring out a restaurant with the timing of the church - I think the ceremony was over at 2:30 - and we needed to find a restuarant that is open at 3ish.

Re: For those that had or will have a christening...
My party started at 3pm - immediately following the church ceremony.
I have been to christenings that started that late but they were Greek christenings with bit parties afterwards.

Re: For those that had or will have a christening...
Our ceremony is from 2-3. The party is from 3:30 - 7:30.
Our church does the ceremony outside of mass-- they said too many regular churchgoers were complaining when it was done during regular mass!
