Had a huge scare this morning ---UPDATE #1 ---UPDATE #2------UPDATE #3
I normally don't do this but we had an extremely scary morning and we could use your prayers that they find out what is wrong with Milo and fast.
We let Milo out to go to the bathroom this morning and when I went to check on him he was shaking and not able to walk. I ran out and scooped him up and brought him into the house. He began to shake even more, lose control of his legs and basically his whole body, he was drooling and unresponsive. WE rushed him to the vet and he was a little bit better at first but then he threw up all over and was still drooling and just seemed out of it.
They did blood work, x-rays, urine and stool analysis. We are now waiting for all the results. He is home now resting but we are going to have to do a few more tests to eliminate some options and figure out what is going on with him.
They said he might have just had a seizure or he may have epilepsy or he might have something going on with his liver.
If you can spare some prayers, we would really appreciate it.
I have to call the vet at 6 to find out what was found through the blood work so I will update as soon as possible.
Thank you
UPDATE #1 - I just got off the phone with the doctor and they said that Milo's liver enzymes from his blood work came back abnormal. They also said that his liver looked a little small in the x-ray. So the next step right now is to take him in tomorrow morning for a liver enzyme test. What we have to do is have him fast for 12 hours and then bring him in to the vet where they will take preliminary blood work and then they will feed him and observe him and test his blood over a 2 hour period. I am really hoping that they find out what is wrong with Milo tomorrow after this round of testing and that it is something very fixable/curable Please if you can send some prayers that everything will go positive tomorrow, we would really appreciate it. Thank you
UPDATE #2 - I picked Milo up from the Vet a little while ago. They completed the test for his liver enzyme levels and I have to wait to call tomorrow for the blood work results He is definitely getting back to his usual crazy self which makes me happy (can't believe I said that ). And they put him on antibiotics for the bacteria in his urine. That's all the new information for right now. Thank you all so much for your support and continued prayers!!!! I will update again tomorrow as soon as I have more information.
UPDATE #3 - The blood work came back and Milo has elevated Bio acids in his blood stream. Basically his liver is not functioning to its normal capacity and toxins are developing within his blood stream and this is what caused the seizure. The liver is suppose to rid the body of toxins and Milo's liver is on the smaller side and his liver blood vessels are not functioning the way they are suppose to. The next step right now is a special diet called The LD (liver diet) diet and antibiotics to rid the blood stream of as much toxins as soon as possible to decrease the chance of any immediate seizures. We are going to have to bring him in next week for an ultrasound of his liver to see what type of liver shunt deficit he specifically has--there are 2 different types of abnormalities that can develop with the liver and they need to find out which it is (enlarged vessels or restricted vessels which both affect the detoxification of the blood system and prevent the liver from performing its daily function). If the above diet and ultrasound do not seem to get the problem under control them we will have to take additional steps --such as an intravenous dye study or surgery. We are hoping that the first two options---diet and the ultrasound--will be the solution. Thank you so much for keeping us in your thoughts. We really appreciate it!!!
OMG. Could he have been poisoned by something? Please let us know what happens. How awful and scary.
I have to wait for the blood work to come back to see if they found anything. I have to call around 6 and then I will have alittle bit more information. Right now he is resting very peacefully and seems to be getting back to his usual self---he is just really tired but they said that is normal!
