I would think it's a double bed, like smaller than a full size, but bigger than a twin. But basically a full sized bed.

I did call to confirm because in my mind, I was thinking two full-sized beds. The receptionist told me that a double bed was the same as a queen bed and made me feel like I should know that already

Actually, she is wrong. A double bed is the same as a full bed. Larger than that would be a Queen and even bigger is a King sized.
Just beware - I HAVE been in hotels that only have ONE double bed (or full) in the room. It may not mean two beds.

Exactly. Every time I've stayed in a major city (heart of the city), the room is smaller and one bed.
If the listing is in Boston proper, and depending upon the hotel, I'd guess it's only one bed.
