Update on Diesel
For anyone who was following:
We got the biopsy results back.
He has iinflamed glands which have led to a deep bacterial infection in his skin. And he also has Yeast Hypersensitivity, where b.c of his allergies and sensitive skin, the yeast in his skin (which is normal to have) is taking over (similar to a yeast infection we can get but all over his skin)
So - we are going to continue with meds at this point until further notice.
The vet also wants to tackle the food allergy. I have to discuss the actual process b/c from what I have read , a food elimination process is what we would do. That means that , lets say we were starting with chicken. He would only get chicken & water for a few weeks. Thats it. He cannot have anything else and if he eats something else, you have to start over. Now, the rescue is paying for all of this so I wouldnt want to screw up. But the reality is, he does get other things. I try hard to make sure it doesnt happen, but my DD throws food, or drops food, or leaves a goldfish in the couch and I have no idea. So, I have to discuss that with the Dr.
So that is where we are right now. Thanks for reading

Re: Update on Diesel
Wow that takes a long time, huh? Poor Diesel. But I'm glad he has you guys to help him with his issues! I hope your trial and error yields results soon. Do they have a plan on what you're starting with - is it really chicken? And what are you looking for that would tell you he's doing well or not? Do you have to smell him every day?
Sorry for all the questions, I'm interested in his recovery.

Poor Diesel.
How has the smell been? I feel so bad he has so many issues/ailments. You are a good doggie mama.

we aren't starting the food elimination yet. The chicken was just an example. He has to go to the vet Sat for stitches removal so we are going to discuss it then

no smell at all! With the medication that keeps him from scratching, it doesnt cause him to smell
