What does ET feel like?
Tomorrow is my embryo transfer. What does it feel like? Do you have to lie there for awhile afterwards? What to expect???? Why do I have to have a fiull bladder? I am scared I am going to pee all over the doctor
I did my ER without anesthesia, I am hoping that this is not as painful.
Thanks!

Re: What does ET feel like?
WT is not painful at all. the bladder has to be full because it makes seeing the uterus and placement of the embies a little easier (i think). I had to lay there for 30 minutes afterwards. If i remember correctly, they put a speculum in, insert the tube, which is really thin, you don't even feel it, then they inject the embies, which you don't feel either. good lucK!

Re: What does ET feel like?
The ET was not that bad at all. If you had an IUI ever, that is basically what you feel. Having the full bladder is a bit uncomfortable but my RE told me to have my bladder comfortably full (not running to the bathroom full). You do lay there for a good 30 minutes afterwards..

Re: What does ET feel like?
it's really quick and not painful at all, kinda feels like an iui. yea i felt like i was going to pee too. i drank a little bit on the way there and then finished the bottle once i got there then only had a few sips of water while waiting in the procedure room. i didnt have to wait long so that helped but then i started to feel like i had to go bad but then they rolled me in and it kinda went away. they let you use the bathroom before if it becomes painful but you cant empty your whole bladder so once you start you have to stophich is probably harder than just holding it. A full bladder is for your benefit so the embyro is placed in the best spot, this can be seen on the ultrasound. My advice drink but dont over do the drinking before u get there. good luck tomorrow

Re: What does ET feel like?
Just for the record some RE's do it with a full bladder and some don't. My 1st 2 IVF's were with full bladder. I thought my eyes were gonna pop out of my head when they put pressure on my bladder area. I drank too much the first time out that is for sure. It was better the 2nd time. When I switched to Cornell, they only do full bladder ET if you have a problem with your uterus (now I do have a problem but I'm not a problem for ET thankfully). I could never switch because without full bladder is so easy. Last time I asked the RE if he had started and he told me he was done. I didn't feel a thing. And yes, they checked to make sure the catheter was empty. And they transferred 5 on that cycle. You think I would have felt something...lol.
Good luck today!!!!
