Since it really isn't all a surprise anymore...
how did my fellow IUI/IVF-ers tell their parents the news??
They know the blood test is Tuesday...but what are some creative ideas to let them know?

Well, I didn't do IUI/IVF we did medicated timed BD, but my mom asks me about every single appt so I just said I may as well tell you since you are going to ask me tomorrow, I'm pregnant. Not very exciting, but at this point it is what it is. I couldn't not tell them and was too scared (because of my past mc's) to get too excited.

This probably won't help you, but we lied about the date of the blood test. We told everyone that it was two weeks from the transfer, not two weeks from the ER.
When we found out it was +, we made a large sign on two pieces of oak tag and rang our parents doorbells.
If you POAS early and get a +, you could tell them the night before the blood test. That would be a surprise.
What it comes down to, is that you may lose the spontaneity of announcing your BFP because of your IF treatments, but the news will, no doubt, be celebrated even better because of all you have been through.
Also, if you are planning to find out the gender, you could lie about the date of that and find a nifty way to surprise them then. Good luck to you. I hope you get your BFP on Tuesday!

I haven't told my parents that we are going thrhough any IF treatments. I am very close with them but my mom would be driving me crazy with questions. Plus I dont want them to worry!

ITA! We spent time with my parents yesterday and we all talked about what was going on quiet a bit and I think they were very happy to be included and to know what was going on. I can tell they are excited for us and hopeful about what's to come.
Anyway I am just thinking about showing up on their doorstep unexpectedly. I'm not sure though I think they'll be just as happy hearing it over the phone

I did it in a really nonchalant way. My parents left for vacation and while they emailed me from their iphone when they were on a layover. I just replied by email:
I am glad to hear that you had a good flight. Hope the next one is good too.
By the way, I totally forgot to tell you before you left that I am pregnant.
Two seconds later, the phone rang!!!

Re: Since it really isn't all a surprise anymore...
My MIL lives and Michigan, and she is coming to visit this weekend. We just found out on Friday and haven't told anyone yet.
We're going to take her and my mom to dinner at our favorite Italian restaurant. And than we're going to have the waiter bring over 2 slices of grandma pie with two cards for each of them that say Congratulations Grandma! My mom is totally expecting it, but hopefully she won't catch on right away and still be a bit surprised. Can't wait!!!!
Than we're having everyone (mom's, brothers, sisters and their families) over for brunch on Sunday and we got t-shirts for our dogs that say I'm going to be a Big Big Brother and I'm going to be a Big Brother and we're going to put them on the dogs and let them loose until someone catches on.

Didn't go thru IF but I got baby photo frames and put inside "Photo coming Nov 2003" where the photo goes. It took them a minute and then everyone was very excited.
