Re: Day 3 or Day 5
I was suppose to do my ET today, which would be day 3. Since transferring 3 eggs is not an option my husband can comprehend, we're only going to do 2 max. Since this is the case, we moved our appt. to Thurs. to do a Day 5 transfer.
Dr. said, the main difference is the egg has a better chance "inside" on a day 3 transfer, but you don't know which embies are going to be the "good" ones. Day 5- you know which ones are the good ones, but your uterus might react differently on day 5.
Did I just make any sense? It's been a LONG day...............

Re: Day 3 or Day 5
I hear you. I feel like I am just guessing which one to do. I wish there were more statistics involved in the decision making. Part of me might go for day 3.

Re: Day 3 or Day 5
Here's a real dumb question...can you do both, if you have enough embryos...like 2 on day 3 and 2 on day 5??

Re: Day 3 or Day 5
Here is my take on a 3 day or 5 day transfer. Some doctors believe that the best place for an embryo is inside. My RE felt that both were equal...in the dish the lab is able to control the environment and make it ideal. For me my first IVF was a 3dt and resulted in BFN. After that I insisted on a 5dt. I would rather have the strongest survive. If they dont make it to day 5 then they werent going to make it period. I would rather have nothing to transfer than transfer nonviable embryos on day three and have to wait two weeks for the BFN. That to me was worse than me going through a canceled cycle.

Re: Day 3 or Day 5
That's where the whole thing becomes debatable. If they don't make it to day 5 in the lab, it can't be said definitively that they wouldn't have made it if they were transfered at day 3. If that were the case, then all clinics would just do 5 day transfers, no?

Re: Day 3 or Day 5
My dr said they determine which day based on our issues. For us, with unexplained IF, it will be day 3.

Exactly. I transferred 2 3 day embies-a 7 cell and a 9 cell. I have healthy twin boys now. None of my 5 others made it to day 5 I honestly think it depends on your embies and your body. This is why the embryologist is so important. They can look at those minute changes in the cells and make those sorts of decisions

Re: Day 3 or Day 5
I am all for Day 5. On day 3 the embies would still be in your fallopian tube and not in your uterus, your uterus isn't ready for them yet on day 3...your lining isn't ready. Again, there are different schools of thought, and they sway all different ways. But I did a day 5 transfer of 3 embies which resulted in twins...you all know what happened to the other twin, but that had nothing to do with the transfer day, that was my chromosomes.

Re: Day 3 or Day 5
I transferred 2 blastocysts on Day 5 which resulted in a twin pregnancy but unfortunately I lost one baby at 9w. Currently I am 5 weeks out from my due date with our little
