Mama's Fish House Their macademia nut crusted mahi mahi is to DIE for. Just tell them to make reservations ahead of time, for sunset. They fill up fast because of a great view.
ETA: Beach House in Kauii was also very good.

Bali Hai on Kauai is so romantic and beautiful. Roy's (Kauai) is casual and excellent food. If they like sushi, Sushi Blues on Kauai is also great.

Nick's Fishmarket on Maui was the best restaurant I've ever been to. They had strawberries flambe (sp?) for dessert. Most amazing thing I've ever eaten! It was a beautiful setting outside with a view of the ocean.

Roys
My sister came back from her HM raving about Roys. You can even order a gift certificate online or pick one up at their NYC location.

Roy's is a nice place - we went there.
I co-worker of mine recommended Mama's Fish House - but we didn't go b/c were not big into fish.

We LOVED Mama's. It was amazing. We tried to go to Beach House, but could not get a reservation, so if you go with this one, make sure they make their reservation way ahead. (probably wouldn't hurt to do that with Mama's too.) We also loved Roy's. We went to one on Maui and one on Kauai and loved them both.

I second both of these. If I had to choose one I'd choose Mama's for atmosphere and also because the fish is so fresh they tell you who caught and where it was caught! Amazing. Sunset reservations are a must.
Roy's is awesome but the ambiance is just not the same as the other places IMO.

Another vote for Mama's Fish House! Do they like sushi? We went to an AMAZING sushi restaurant too in Maui, I'm blanking on the name but if they are into that, FM me and I'll def look it up for you.

Re: Hawaii Restaurant help
Mama's FIsh house is well known as the BEST in Maui.
We loved it!!!! It's a little pricey (not too bad) so we used a $100 gift card and it really made it affordable.
Another idea is Hula Grill (part of a chain, so they could probably also use it at the place in Kuaui too).
We also ate at the Plantation House in Maui and loved it, its on a golf course with an unbeattable view for sunset - just check to see where they are staying on Maui, it was close to where we are but if they are staying too far south, it would be a hike!
