I starting running tonight and...
I feel great!!! Now I only did a mile tonight, but hey it's a start right?
Let's hope I can continue this. My goal is to do 5 miles this week and 10 next week.
Any suggestions would be great. I'm a smoker that wants to quite and put my addition into exercising.

First off - congrats on starting an exercise program.
Be careful with increasing your mileage too quickly. 5 miles for this week is good to start with, but after that you should only really increase your mileage by 10% in order to prevent injury.
Many girls on the site do the couch to 5k program and have had a lot of success.

Good luck with your running! A mile is great for your first time out. Keep it up!
Just a word of advice: running is very hard on your body - your tendons, your joints, etc. They suggest that you up your mileage by 10% a week so you don't get hurt. So if you're running 5 miles this week, you should run 5.5 miles next week, 6.1 miles the week after that, and so on. If you feel like you can tackle more than that, try it, but to double your mileage in one week is really intense! It's also the way to get shin splints. I don't want you to get hurt and have to stop running your second week out!

Thank you so much for the advice, I had no idea. I'll try to up it 10% next week and see how I do.
