Bridesmaid dilema

So, I'm in my best friend's wedding in September and need to order my BM dress. I just had my second fialed IUI and plan on doing 2-3 more IUI's. If all those don't work than I'll be taking a break for a few months and moving on to IVF after my friend's wedding. So there's def a possibility I'll get prego in my next 2-3 IUI's, so what should I do about the dress?

If this next IUI works, I'd be 4-5 months prego. So I'd def be showing and would need a larger dress. I don't know if I should order my size, a size larger, 2 sizes larger or more! I hate having to decide this now but I can't hold up the order another month! And part of me feels silly ordering a larger dress when I have no clue if I'll be prego or not.

A lot of times when they measure you for a bridesmaid dress you fall between 2 sizes. I would pick the larger size and in the event that you're not preg or not that far along at the time of the wedding you can always take it in if need be.

Re: Bridesmaid dilema

The same thing exactly exactly happened to me..

I ordered a bigger size.. Unfortunately I had to have it taken in because it never happend for me.. But you never know.. Also I took the advice of the place I ordered it from.. This is what they told me to do..

Good luck.. And I hope you have to get extra material.. Chat Icon

Re: Bridesmaid dilema

i am going to be in the same situation.. but the wedding i am in is November..

i would do 1 or 2 sizes bigger.. no more than that.

dont forget 5 months is still early to "pop" so you might be okay!!
at 5 months i was not even showing at all.. so maybe 1 size up will be good enough!

Re: Bridesmaid dilema

I'd probably order the dress a size or 2 bigger...just to be hopeful and on the safe side. I really hope that they don't have to take the dress in when the time comes! Chat Icon

Re: Bridesmaid dilema

I too am in a wedding in the beginning of September. We just ordered our dresses. I had asked if they can order 2 sizes bigger because we're trying to get pregnant.
I just wanted to be safe IF it happened you know?

Many dress manufacturers offer the option to buy extra material and have it added in. I did this with my BM's in order to wraps the stems of the bouquets they carried. They may charge you some $$, but it may be worth it. If you don't end up needing it, you can have it made into a shawl. Good luck.

Re: Bridesmaid dilema

Thanks everyone. I think I'll order 2 sizes up. I'm going to try it on to see how it fits me now and than judge.

If I order up i'll def still need it taken in even if I'm prego, cause the chest will be way too big (wich I could say the same about the hips)!

and here's the dress:

Re: Bridesmaid dilema

LOVE the dress.
I would actually ask when the last date is you can order it and tell the sales women why.
I would order in my size. If the process works, great, they will figure it out. You will not be the first women to get pregnant during a wedding plan process. If not, then you are stuck with a HUGE alteration bill and feel even worse.

Re: Bridesmaid dilema

They can probably order you extra fabric when you order the dress, just in case. I had 3 friends at 5mth pregnant in my wedding party. That is what they did. When we ordered they were only 10wks (just happened that they were all at the same timing). It was kinda funny, every time one would go down the isle everybody would laugh because the next one was pregnant too.

You'd think that was a good sign for me. Guess not...LOL. Maybe it was telling me to get going on it.
