Question about TTC...

How did you ladies come to the decision to start TTC? DH and I both want kids, we have only been married 5 months, and planned on waiting 2 years. The thing is we are both getting really itchy, but also want to wait, if this makes sense. There are so many factors influencing us (such as whether I will be a SAHM or work, the economy-fear of losing job etc)

How did you guys decide WE ARE READY!

We knew when we started dating that kids would happen once we were married and had the vasectomy reversal. For us it was saving for the reversal that stopped us. If we would not have had that hurdle we more then likely would have started as soon as we moved in together.

DH and I always spoke about having kids after 1 year (which would be JUne) I guess it's just something the two of you have to wait on. I am a firm believer that there is never a really "perfect" time to TTc...so you just have to do what's right for you! good luck in your decision!

I don't really think it has anything to do with how long you've been married. For us it took 3 years to begin even thinking about it.

I say if you've got that itch just scratch it!

For me, it was a few things.
Initially, I wanted us to enjoy at least a year of married life, living on our own before trying.
At the time we were living in a 2 br apartment which was really crowded with all our stuff and i also didn't want to start trying until we had our own house.. so 2 years after we got married, we finally had enough $$ saved to start looking for houses. Once we got the house, we had so much to do on it, we decided to at least have a few months to enjoy the house and yard and host some parties without my being pregnant.. so we waited some more.
Then, i ended up switching jobs, so I had to wait until i was at my current job for enough time that if i got pregnant, i would be fully covered for maternity leave.
So.. now we're finally trying!

I think for everyone it's different. I never had the overwhelming urge to be a mother until i got married. Then i wanted to make sure that we enjoyed ourselves for a few years as a married couple.
Obviously, you can't plan life to always happen as you wish..
You guys have to do whatever you feel is best - don't go by what anyone else says!
