Name change and question for veterans...
I changed my name from -BabyQuestions- to -BabyMiracle-. When I had originally signed up here, I thought I would have a few short months on the TTC board so the name did not matter much. 18 months later.....
My question is regarding a gynecologist visit...my last one was last March. I made my annual appointment this year for April. But since I went through IVF last year, do I have to even go to the gyn? I am thinking they test for things other than what the RE would be looking for...what has everyone who has been going through IF for at least a year been doing???
Thanks!

Re: Name change and question for veterans...
Good question...I have been wondering the same. The RE did a pap on me in November I wonder if that would be sufficient

Re: Name change and question for veterans...
But with all of this testing from RE is it necessary to go to GYN?
Did the RE ever do any pelvic exams on you?

Nope I don't think so. I guess it can't hurt to go to the gyn...but I just wonder what everyone else is doing you know?

Re: Name change and question for veterans...
I have been seeing RE's for 2 years and continued to see my gyn for my semi-annual visits. I felt it was important to have my regular "check up", not all RE''s do them.

regular check ups are important but REs are gyns. They specialize in RE.
I would go if you haven't had a breast exam in a while.

Re: Name change and question for veterans...
My RE actually sent me to my gyn because my pap was outdated, so I would say yes, you still need to go. Expecially for the breast exam as well.

My RE did a pap last year. I'll ask her to do another one after the m/c is completely done.

Re: Name change and question for veterans...
YOu should make sure you have your annual PAP. I just went to my oby for one b/c it was a year. The last one done was by my RE.
Be careful, make sure you didn't have one by your RE. Insurance will only cover 1 annually unless there is a problem.
But, I agree with Susan. RE's do not do Breast Exams. And if you are near 40 you should have a baseline mamogram. But, your RE can send you for that too.

Re: Name change and question for veterans...
When I went to the OB in January after being with the RE for over a year, the OB did a pap smear for me. I don't think the RE did, if they did, it was at my first visit a while back...
good to see you...i was thinking about you

Re: Name change and question for veterans...
I stopped going to my regular gyno when I was seeing a RE. The RE can certainly do a pap for you. The only other thing would be a breast exam.
