When you start IVF....
1. What cycle day do you start on or does it not matter?
2. Why do they start you on BCPs and for how long to you stay on them?

Well if you are doing BCP ( I did, I started on Day 3 of my next cycle). I was on them for 3 weeks (until I got to the placebo). HTH

I started on Day 3 and was only on BCP for 11 days because they wanted to fit me into the last cycle of the year.

Two of my cycles were on BCP and two were not. Both cycles I started BCPs on day 2. My RE said it is to get you to "zero." To try and prevent one of your follies from become dominant. My RE used them on me in place of provera to bring on AF so I could start. I was on them only for 7 days. They NEVER worked on me and somehow always messed up my cycle instead

Everyone is different, bcp may work for you, maybe not.
My first IVF cycle was no bcp..straight to follistim/menopur on day 3. We did a retrieval and froze all embryos b/c we're doing pgd.
The Second attempt was bcp..which, at 40, I broke through and produced 2 eggs on my own with no fertility drugs..so we did and IUI, which didn't work.
