OPK- when to start???

I am now very confused. I cam off BCP in October. This month (Jan) my cycles was way crazy long. Oct-Nov I was 28 days. Nov-Dec I was 29 days. Dec-Jan I was 39 days. I used an OPK in Dec and tested fom CD10-CD17 and never got a +. I didn't continue testing, but thought I saw EWCM on CD19, which was a week off from when my monthly cycles said I would o. That would explain AF coming a week late. I am all ready to go this month with the smiley test and keep going til I get a smiley so I can get a better guesstimate of when I will be Oing. I am just not too sure on when I should start testing this month. i don't want to test early and waste sticks, but I don't want to start to late and miss it. I was thinking of starting to test on CD14. Do you think that is too late? What would you do? Suggestions are greatly appreciated

you sound like me...your cycles are out of whack...so i wouldn't go by mymonthlycycles -- it was wrong for me. it told me i'd O on cd14 -- meaning i should test on cd11 or 12 -- and i didn't get an LH surge till cd17.

since your cycles are long--i'd probably start testing around CD14 if you're cycles are getting long. maybe even buy an extra OPK just in case you need more 7 tests if your cycle is getting as long as 39 days.

even knowing I wasn't going to O until roughly around CD 18....I started testing on CD14

Just because you had a long month doesn't neccesarily mean you will again, I would probably start testing on day 12 just to be safe.

I agree with the PP.. I would start testing around 11 or 12.... just b/c last moonth was long does not necessarily mean that this month is going to be long. i would start bd (if you can) every other day from CD10 until you get your postiive opk.

I'd start at CD 10 just to be safe.

If you end up having another 28 day cycle, you could get a +OPK as early as CD 12 and I wouldn't want you to miss it.

i would start testing at CD10 to be sure.. and keep going.. dont stop! especially you got AF a week later.. it was very possibly you Oed late that month!
