There not old at all. His mom is only 48. She even said to me Oh I thought you were going to wait. Like it was a bad thing we got pregnant.

That is why!!! as people get older they get the urge for grandbabies but they are not there yet!

Re: Were your In-laws excited when you told them?

my MIL sounded happy for us but I wouldn't say excited per say. We had to tell her over the phone since she lives in Ireland so I couldn't really tell her reaction. Plus she is the type to be more reserved at first but then talk about it to everyone else in an excited way.
also, our baby will be her 15th grandchild so it's understandable if she's not crying and super emotional about it.

I am sure DH's family is very excited, but I don't always see or feel it.

Re: Were your In-laws excited when you told them?

Surprisingly, yes!
When DH's brother and SIL were expecting their first, they announced it around 10 weeks or so. I congratulated my MIL, saying You're going to be a grandmother! and she actually said to me Well, we'll see, she's only just. I thought that was such a terrible comment (incidentally, she didn't say that to BIL & SIL).

When we told her our news on Christmas Eve, she was so thrilled. I was really surprised, but I guess she's gotten used to the idea of having grandchildren!

FIL is usually really laid back and I actually expected a bit more of a reaction from him. He was fine when we told him, but since he didn't even remember that we had had our 12 week sono, which we felt was such a big deal. But then again, we don't see FIL as much as we see MIL.
