dr just called... need some opinions...UPDATED
okay - so as some of you know, today is CD55 with no period in sight. This is also my first month off the pill, but before i started with the pill, my cycles were irregular. My dr took tons of blood and said everything was okay, except for my hormone levels. He said I didn't ovulate and it didn't look like i was going to. He wants to give me Provera to make me have my period and then a low dose of clomid. How does this sound? Do you think its too soon to try clomid? If i just take provera is there a chance that i might ovulate on my own?
UPDATE: So I called the dr back this morning and we decided that I'm going to take the provera, and see if i ovulate on my own... he said if i dont get my period within 7 weeks to come back and then they'll do another round of provera and follow it up with a low dose of clomid and monitor me. At least I have a plan!!!

The provera will just bring on AF.
Will you be monitored closely while on Clomid?
What were your actual levels and numbers from your testing?

I do not think it is too soon to try clomid, as pp said, they should just monitor you but if you are on the low dose of clomid (50mg), you should be fine

Re: dr just called... need some opinions...
i didn't ask for all my levels and numbers!
He said it would be a low dose of clomid, and it didn't seem like i would be monitored very closely, but i'm not sure. He said once I get my period from provera to call him.

Re: dr just called... need some opinions...
I had the same issues. AF took 120 days to come when I first came off the pill. After a couple more long cycles I went to an RE. They gave me provera to start my period- this is just to clean out the lining and start fresh. Than I started on a low dose of clomid (which didn't work). I just finished a triple dose of clomid which did work. They monitored me with internal sono's on CD10 and CD12.
How irregular were your periods before BCP? It's up to you if you want to move to clomid or wait it out a little longer. Maybe give it another month to see if AF comes? It was very frustrating for me because I really wasn't ovulating so it's like trying for nothing, KWIM?

Thanks for your info! I went on the pill when i was 18, so i honestly don't remember much about my periods, but i do remember them being irregular. I guess i'm concerned about going on clomid if theres a chance I don't need it, or perhaps having multiples. Maybe i'll start the provera and give it a month, and if its another long cycle, then i'll give it a try.

Re: dr just called... need some opinions...
I believe there is only a 10% chance of multiples on Clomid.
Provera will not help you ovulate. If you aren't ovulating on your own- you need something to push it along.

7 weeks? That seems like an awfully long time.
I think Provera should make AF come in 14 days or less.

I think she means 7 weeks after the provera indued AF.
so less than two months to give her a chance to ovulate on her own- sounds like a good plan to start with.

Yes - thats what i meant. I should get my period shortly after Provera. And once that period starts if i dont get another period in 7 weeks to go back and he'll take blood and if necessary we'll do provera again and then try clomid.
