Re: for those having or had a :babygirl:

My ped. did it when I was a month or so old. If I have a girl, I will most likely get them done while she is a baby.

I was born in Spain and they actually do them in the hospital when the baby is born, I think I was like a day old when tehy were done. My mom said I didn't even flinch. I will be getting my Chat Icon ears pierced probably after 8 weeks.

Re: for those having or had a :babygirl:

we're having it done as a baby..I had it done when I was 4ish and I remember me screaming like mad, my SIL didn't have it done until later and she kept prolonging it bc she was scared...so DH and I both agreed that we're going to do it when she is a baby and get it over with....

I had mine pierced for my 5th birthday as did my sister. I think I will do that for DD if she wants them done at that point. I'm personally not a fan of having an infant's ears pierced.

TOTALLY AGREE! Let a baby be a BABY!

I personally hate pierced ears on babies. I think its something that should be done later in life, not as a baby.

I don't know what this baby is yet, but if it's a girl we will wait until a special occasion during her childhood. Something like her first day of Kindergarten, or her First Communion.

I got mine pierced right before I started kindergarten and I remember it being such a big deal. I don't remember it hurting or anything so I will probably do the same age Chat Icon

I had to wait until 12- ok 11 since I wouldn't stop nagging my mom. I wouldn't do anything to my DD body until she was old enough to decide for herself. JMO about my own child... I know that other cultures have a different viewpoint about that so no flames here.

Wow I don't think those of us who have done it have not allowed our baby to be a baby. I think that comment is a bit harsh. Like I said there is meaning to piercing besides esthetics...

Re: for those having or had a :babygirl:

I used to be so upset with my mother growing up b/c she didn't have it done when I was younger and I wanted them pierced so bad but was so scared! I think I finally did it in 4th grade. I always said when I have a girl I will do it early to get it over with but who knows...

Re: for those having or had a :babygirl:

I personally do not agree with piercing a baby's ears... but everyone obviously has their own opinions.

I got mine done when I was in 5th grade-- and it hurt, but whatever. It was a rite of passage and I felt so grown up and special getting it done and wearing earrings after that.

I agree with you. If I have a DD, I will wait until she is old enough to take care of the earrings/keep the holes clean and disinfected, and to decide that she wants them. I feel like the piercing is pretty much irreversible once it's done, there is always a mark even if they close, and I wouldn't want to do that unless she made the decision. Just my opinion.

If this baby is a Chat Icon she'll get her ears pierced as soon as the ped gives me the green light.

Re: for those having or had a :babygirl:

I had originally wanted to do it when DD was a baby, but she has a big head - usually around 97th percentile Chat Icon so there were many times that we had trouble getting her shirts on and off. I was too nervous about the earrings getting caught and ripping her ears, so we decided to wait.
