cats-it's their house..they own it. They pay the mortgage and taxes and order sushi on my credit card.
I'm here strictly for the care and feeding of the cats.
hmmm sounds like my dog!
The only place he isnt allowed is on my bed when the comforter is on. If he is napping on there with DH and I come home he jumps off so fast.

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
My dogs are allowed everywhere, I have sheets on the couch and the LR chairs. I think my Rottie thinks we bought the recliner for her.
Of course, both are allowed in bed as well.

No pets now, but growing up we had a dog and a cat. NEVER on the furniture. My mom is a super anal clean freak and would go nuts. They tried, she would flip...They gave up after a while. If we ever get another dog (DH has allergic issues with them ) They will not be allowed on any furniture but their own. Im personally not a fan of it.
My childhood dog (a Westie) knew not to dare go upstairs to the bedrooms, OR to step from the tile floor of the hall/kitchen to the hardwood of the Living Room/Dining room - I don't know HOW my parents trained her to be SO good !!! - My Yorkie thinks she owns the whole damn house !!!

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
yes they are allowed...we have blankets and throws on the couches for them to lay on...but I also must say that we have 2 older very reserved dogs...if we had a puppy the story might be different..

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
Yes...It is after all our cat's place. We just happened to be there when he moved in and decided to not get rid of us.
He comes to bed with us everynight and sleeps in between us on our pillows. DH is obsessed with him - so he lets him get away with everything

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
She does not shed and is only 15 or so pounds so for her to go on the couch isn't a big deal - never any hair and she isn't too big for it. She is never allowed anywhere near the kitchen table or anywhere in our kitchen like by the counters and stuff. She is allowed in our bed because, again, she does not shed. She usually doesn't jump on things - even the ones we let her on w/o a problem - unless invited. She's a good girl - I have to say.

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
No, Dexter is not allowed on any furniture. We have to block our couches, so he doesn't sit on them when we're out. He never tried before, but I think he's acting out bc DH doesn't take him out for walks as much since it got cold. He's definitely not allowed in ANY bed.

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
dh uncle let the golden retriever on the couch.... they left the couch for us when they moved out.....
so one night i feel asleep on the couch and woke up smelling like the dog, couch was in otherwise great condition....
so it depends on how much you love the furniture....consider getting a blanket for the area they are allowed on

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
Our pooch is not allowed on the furniture. There is a chair that's close to the window that he's allowed to jump up on so he can look outside. (he's not tall enough to look out the window without the chairs assistance) But other than that, he knows that furniture is off limits. He has a couple of beds around the house so I'm sure he's more than comfortable.

well, ny dog has dominant issues so he is not allowed on the furniture. We do allow him only on the ottoman but he knows to get up once we use it

The cat is allowed on all furniture except for counters and tables. Basically anywhere food is involved she is not allowed.

Re: Do you let your animals climb on your furniture
we are cat sitting for my friend
<------ have had this cute kitty since august
hes on the large side (aka a fatty fat cat lol) so there isnt MUCH he can jump up on lol
cant get up on the counters or the dining room table... the MOST he has ever jumped up on was the kitchen table and the coffee table....kitchen table is a no no - but our coffee table is a POS table that we bought on a "for now" basis so i dont really care if he jumps on there... unless there is food of some sort on the table, then its a no no
he sleeps in our bed everynight and gets free run of the whole house... i'm a sucker for a cute face
