Does anyone else think it's rude
When people ask you how much weight you've gained? I'm not sure if I am just sensitive since I have been overweight all my life, but that is just not something I would ever ask someone and the secretary at my office just asked me. She asks a lot of questions which I find inappropriate and I'm starting to wonder if I am just overly private.
I understand asking on a PG board, we are all in the same situation and maybe trying to see what is normal, but I don't expect specific question about my PG from co-workers. What do you think?

From a co-worker, I think its more ballsy than rude. I mean really who does that. I would ask her how much she has gained since you got Pregnant. But Im a B~tch.

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
The only one who had asked me is my mom, which I am fine with.
I do think its rude coming from co-workers and other acquaintances.

I will not answer this question if it is asked of me. I think it's rude and disgusting.

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
I actually don't mind if its not asked as in..."OMG how much weight have you gained" Ppl know you are supposed to gain weight during pregnancy, so to me, its not a rude question, JMO

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
I think it's rude. I've had people ask me that and I usually respond with "enough." I don't know why people care how much weight I've gained.

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
I don't understand why people care either, at 36 weeks I have gained almost 40lbs, which is more than I would have liked, but it is what it is.
Everytime she asks me one of these questions, I just say, "the Dr. says everything is going perfectly" which is exactly true, she is very happy with my PG. The thing that really annoys me is that when I give her an evasive answer she starts pushing it trying to get more info get the hint woman!

Me too - I think it's very rude. But I also think it's rude to do/say many of the things people think are perfectly acceptable to say/do to a woman just b/c she's PG - Like, DO NOT grab my belly - Sorry, yes there's a baby IN there, but Hello, it's still MY Body you're grabbing at !! And really, why is anyone but my Dr and my husband concerned w/ my weight ??

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
Yes, I think it's rude! I have weight issues as it is and feel uncomfortable with any type of question like that. I would just say "enough" and leave it at that.

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
I have asked other pregnant women who are my friends, just to compare I guess.
I think people can be rude in general when it comes to pregnant women, they feel they can say or do anything and that to me is just plain - WRONG

It depends on the person. I'm ok with friends and family asking. From the secretary I think its rude, I would give her a rude answer in return! XOXOXO BOTB

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
I really think everything is dependent of tone of voice and intent of question.
Pretty much everyone who knows I'm pregnant says how NOT pregnant I look and how little or non-existent my baby belly is. Most appear to be complimenting me by saying I am carrying well. Others will make me feel like my child is not developing properly or imply that I am not eating well enough.

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
The only time I don't think it is rude is if it is one of my fellow preggos due around the same time asking me to commiserate!

Re: Does anyone else think it's rude
Yes, rude.
The only way I WOULDN'T consider that rude would be if I were talking with another pregnant woman, or if it were one of my good friends.

I agree. Or a close friend or my mom or someone. A random co-worker I'm not great friends with? Rude. Well, I don't know if I'd call it rude or inappropriate.
