Do I have a choice?
so i just called my Re office to see how my little embryos were doing and they said they are all growing great and it looks like they want to do a blast ?? i asked what that was and she said its pretty much a 5 day transfer??? does that mean my embryos are growing faster then normal?? is this a good thing? im so worried that over the weekend they are going to stop growing. do i have a choice to ask for a 3 day instead of waiting for a 5 day? any help would really help me out! im still so new to all this i dont understand all the lingo

Re: Do I have a choice?
Healthy embryos usually reach blastocyst (blast) at 5 days. I am 16 weeks pregnant after transferring a single embryo on day 5. Best of luck!

Re: Do I have a choice?
you know i have no experience in this yet but I would think doing the 5 day blast is better right now. Your body is still recovering & you have the OHSS! If the embryo's are growing good, they know what they are doing

Re: Do I have a choice?
I wonder if you should talk to your RE to discuss your options. If you are more comfortable with a Day 3 transfer, you should have the option to have one.
Your RE is the best sounding board to voice any and all concerns. GOOD LUCK!

Re: Do I have a choice?
My guess is they want to wait...see how the embies grow while watching your OHSS...if everything is good they can safely transfer. I would NOT push for a 3dt - at your age you are more likely to have success with a 5dt.

Re: Do I have a choice?
I am now 31 weeks pregnant with a 5 day double hatching blast (1 embie transferred because of fear of OHSS) ...Your RE will know whats best for you They look at your embies under very strict observation to see at what rate they are growing and determine from there- You also have a good # to begin with so going to blast is a very good thing !

Re: Do I have a choice?
I was told that they prefer to do a 5 day transfer, but will do a day 3 if they embies aren't growing as well.
5 day tansfer success rates are higher.
