For those of you scared of the IV
I have a PSA...
I was beyond stressed out about this morning's retrieval, only because of the IV.
Well, my nurse was absolutely PHENOMENAL. I mean, really, just phenomenal.
To ease my anxiety, she rubbed a numbing cream on my arm where the IV would go, and put a heating pad on to make the vein pop up a little so it wouldn't be difficult to find.
20 minutes later, she turned on the TV to distract me, laid the bed all the way down and put in the IV, which I didn't even feel because my arm was numb.
So, for my fellow IV freaks, it's definitely something to consider, and ask for, when the day comes

I mistakenly thought I could sneak that on without anyone really noticing, huh?
It went ok - 9 eggs were retrieved. Now I wait with baited breath for the fertilization report

DEFINITELY ask for it - it took away any sensation so all I had to do was turn my head. I was shocked when she said she was done because I seriously never felt a thing.
I feel a little crampy, and it hurts to pee because they used a catheter, but in the grand scheme of things, it's really nothing at all - you will be fine

I'm not too sure if everyone has to do it - I got the impression only one of the doctors from my practice uses it, actually. But it's ok because I was already out by the time they put it in - and the discomfort from it is all but gone at this point. They asked that I stay home today and tomorrow, but said I can go to work tomorrow if I need to, though my supervisor is really nice and is letting me work from home so I'm just opting to do that instead.
I live in the Philly 'burbs so it's unlikely you know my practice
Fertilization report comes tomorrow morning, and transfer is likely on Sunday.
Good luck and I'm only a few steps ahead of you so if you have any questions, ask away!
