Synthroid
DH and i are just starting the TTC process and i just got a refill of my prescription of synthroid (i have hashimoto's disease). On the new prescription, theres a sticker on top that says "consult your physician if you are pregnant or trying to become so". I put in a call to my doctor but had to leave a voicemail. does anyone know if synthroid lowers your chances of TTC? i would assume so since it was on the label. but are there any alternatives to it?

I don't think so....y mom has been taking synthroid since age 12 and has 3 kids and she says she never even had to "try" to get PG it just happened easily for her.

Not at all. My RE put me on it for hypothyroidism. It's dangerous to NOT take it if you need it..

yup, my dr called me back yesterday and said that i MUST continue to take it cause of my condition and that i need to alert her asap when i do become PG because i need to be monitored more closely.

Exactly right. As a matter of fact, if your thyroid is underactive while you're TTC, the chances of conceiving are pretty slim. The thyroid regulates almost EVERYTHING in your body that's important to conception.
Also, you'll need to be closely monitored while you're pregnant, because if your numbers slip too low while pregnant the chance of miscarriage is much higher.

actually, since synthroid helps to regulate your menstrual cycle; it does not hinder your chances of getting pregnant
i also took glucophage and clomid; but Im 35
talk to your endo. though

I have hashimotos, and told my Dr. we will TTC in Jan.
He said if I didn't take synthroid, it would be harder for me to get pregnant.

i have hashimotos as well and my dr said synthroid is a class a drug - same as a vitamin. he did say my synthroid will have to be upped when im pregnant

I was on sythroid my entire pregnancy. I had a healthy baby girl. I did have to go for bloodwork every few weeks to make sure my levels were ok.

My mom has been on this since her lae teens... took it while pregnant b/c she would've been all out of whack w/o it. But it's suposed to regulate your period and may make TTC easier!!
