Buying a "used" CBEFM?
I saw a used one on Ebay.
I mean. Isn't is a bit "unsanitary"? Aren't the sticks from the previous owner's peepee still in there?
I know... I just feel like eeewww.
Am I the only one turned off by this?

Re: Buying a "used" CBEFM?
yea i can see it being a little unsanitary..
but another reason is they say not to buy used is because depending on how long the previous owner has been using it... their information is still stored, and it might not work for YOU the first couple months.. i could be wrong though.

Re: Buying a "used" CBEFM?
I hear ya... it seems a bit unorthodox... but with the price of the monitor and how much you'll be spending on the sticks, it's worth saving the money. Plus, you never come in contact with the part that analyzes the urine sample... when you POAS you have to wipe off the stick of residual drips so the machine doesn't get wet... so really there's no exposure to it.
It is a bit weird though - using someone else's monitor that you don't know - I have to admit.

I don't think it's unsanitary.
A wonderful person from LIF gave me her CBEFM - and I used it. And now have passed it on to another friend.
You don't actually touch the part where the "pee" part of the stick goes in.
Also, you'll just have to reset it (I can give you instructions on how to do so if you want).
ETA: You put in and remove the sticks daily. It's not like you'll receive the monitor with someone else's stick in it.

i don't think it's unsanitary at all honestly... as long as it can be reset for your use...it's fine.
it's not like the entire machine thingy is going 'up there'...

Re: Buying a "used" CBEFM?
i think its more of a point that who you are buying from...
if its from a friend or someone on here that you at least talk to .. it might be different...
but on EBAY from someone you dont even know... i would still be skeptical and a little skeeved by it.

Yes. I agree. If it was from a friend, I might not think twice about it to be honest.

I guess.
You don't touch the part with urine though. You pee on the stick, just like an OPK and then cover the portion with urine, then put it in the monitor to be read, then you remove the stick and dispose of it. You never touch the part where the stick goes.
If anything, you can clean it out with a Q-tip.

Re: Buying a "used" CBEFM?
My friend gave me hers when she was done with it. The directions say not to share them b/c it tracks your cycles over a period of time. So, just to be on the safe side, I used it with the OPK for the first month and I got a smiley face on the same day as the peak reading so I know it worked.
I say, save the money and go for a used one!

Me too...I couldn't see spending almost $200 when with shipping and everything it was $75 with amonths worth of unopened test strips. Urine is groos, but sterile and as others have said you don't touch it. I did it and would do it again

Re: Buying a "used" CBEFM?
Thanks for posting this.
I used my CBEFM for 3 months. It was then that I found out that, because I have PCOS, the readings aren't accurate for me. It told me that I was having surges and ovulating when I really wasn't.
So now I have a monitor that's practically new, I spent a fortune on it, and I can't even use it. But I had no idea that would people would actually buy a used one.
Good to know!
