Now we're under the gun...
The kitten saga continues.
The good news: My sister has agreed to take the mama cat. We had originally planned on keeping her, but some of you might remember that she severely attacked our other cat and our cat peed all over so we wanted to find her a home where she'd be the only pet. We have to fly her out to CA, but I'm glad we've secured a home for her.
Now, the problem is, we have the new carpet for our nursery coming on Monday. We have 4 kittens that need homes BEFORE Monday, and though I am exhausting all of my options, no one seems to be coming through for us.
To top it off, we had a connection at the Charlotte Humane Society (one of only 2 no-kill organizations in our area), but they are currently under construction and not accepting new animals for the next MONTH.
I know there isn't much that people on a LI chat board can do for me 700 miles away, but if nothing else, can I ask for some prayers? I simply WILL NOT be able to hand them over to a kill shelter, but we won't have a place for them after Monday.
I'm really freaking out. I'm attaching some pictures, I know some of you had wanted to see what they look like now. Image Attachment(s):

OMG, they got so big. They are gorgeous. I am very glad your sister is taking mama cat, that's good. But what will you do with the babies then?
That's how we wound up keeping 3 of the 5 kittens we cared for since birth when we found them in our yard. And our momma cat and her son...giving us a total of 5 cats in our home.

We're not sure what we're going to do with the babies if someone doesn't come through for us before Monday... We can always confine them to the bathroom that adjoins the nursery until we can get further, but it's a tiny room and I'd feel awful doing that Plus I feel that we're running out of time...they're getting much bigger and pretty soon they'll look like cats and no one will want them.
I'm just totally at a loss. I guess no good deed goes unpunished, right?

To some extent, it's a risk you take when taking in a litter. We had to home 3 litters over the years so I know how it goes.

Re: Now we're under the gun...
My heart goes out to you ...you have done such a good job with them and put in so much hard work. I have mentioned we are in the same boat with our rescue family, but we don't have a baby on the way.
Since you were willing to keep the momma cat and add to your own family, would you be willing to keep one or two of these kitties?? It will probably be easier to introduce them to your cat. Just something to consider.
Can you move these guys to a different isolated room for the meantime... a basement or office?
I really hope this works out for you.

it my experince - it's much easier
we thought pokey our older male was going to eat Maggie when we introduced them
but it was love at first site
my vet said if we ever want another cat- it has to be a kitten to not upset Maggie
she freaked at the foster cat we had- since she was older

Re: Now we're under the gun...
I would keep them in the tiny room for the time being
Did you post on craig's list? Is there ANYWHERE that can at least foster them for now??
I wish I lived closer and could help...but my DH is already annoyed at the 2 we have....
Somebody is out there who will take them. They are beautiful and I know they dont look all "kitteny" anymore but they look cuddly & adorable!
