gifts arriving before shower..
Yesterday the infant carrier seats were delivered to my house. My shower is in two weeks - do I send a thank you now, or can I wait until I send the shower thank yous?

I would send it all at once. Another ? I have is, will you acknowledge the gift at your shower even though you already got it?
I don't know how to handle this senario.

I received my mobile from a guest who can not attend my shower in November and I wrote and sent the Thank You right away. I guess it is personal preference, but I like to send Thank You cards as soon as I get the gift.

It was from my aunt, I will thank her at the shower for the gift. I don't think I will announce to everyone that she got it for us though.

well,your shower is only 2 weeks away, so you could wait...
but maybe its just better to get it out of the way now..
figure by the time you write out all the thank yous for your shower, it might be another 3weeks.. so maybe just write on now so that they are not waiting over a month...

What about ackowledging by phone a thank you to the person who sent it and follow it up later with a thank you card when you send thank you's from the shower?

I agree!
As for acknowledging at the shower, no one sent me a gift that then also came. Everyone who sent things were because they couldn't attend. However when I did open my gifts from my mom I mentioned that she also purchased our crib since it was such a significant purchase.

We played BINGO and as a "bonus" I had my sister read off the names and gifts that I had sent to my house.

I sent all of mine at once, after the shower. It was just easier that way, but I don't think it really matters. I can't see anyone getting upset that they didn't get a Thank you right away....
