10-9 Non-TTC Topic...
When do you start your holiday shopping and do you have a strategy?
I start a list (and by list I mean an Excel spread sheet ) in late August. The in September I research all the gift ideas on line.
Now it's October, so when I have a few $$ I'll start buying things. I won't step foot in a mall past Thanksgiving. I will order stuff online after that, but I like to have everything wrapped and ready to go at least a week before Christmas.

Wow!!!! you are sooo organized.
I have no plan, no strategy, im usually christmas shopping with all the last minute shoppers, everyone running around the mall. It puts me in the christmas spirit more. lol.
I dont even know what I'm getting for who....
Since we just got married in April, what do you think of giving out pictures of us 5x7 in frames or 8x10? do you think thats too tacky? i saw ladies write about this on the newlywed board on LIW.

I usually start thinking about things in september/early october and I'll pick a few things up here or there. For the past few years, my bestfriend and I take the first weekend in November and make a trip to the outlets and get A LOT done. We go to Woodbury commons and then sugarloaf NY and we're at least 65% done when we get back. Plus between now and then I shop online alot.
Gab- we're giving a few framed photos from the wedding as gifts..but not of just us. I have gorgeous ones of my and my FGs that I will give to their parents..things like that!

I iwsh, I make a list on the back of a receipt and then buy whatever I find in the store!!! I usually finish on xmas eve!

I was thinking about this the other day. I think I am going to start making a list soon and buying some things shortly.
We do a secret santa on DH's side so we pick that on Thanksgiving so I can't get those until after Thanksgiving. But some of the others I am going to start soon.

I usually start making my list in early to mid-November and then start all of my shopping online in early December. If I step foot in 2 stores after Thanksgiving that's a lot!

I agree with the online shopping! I love it!
Especially toys and stuff. I love Amazon and sites like that!

I don't mind shopping after Thanksgiving if I go during the day on a weekday, I refuse to go anywhere near a mall on the weekends or even the weekday nights. That said, I usually have an idea for some people's gifts and others I just kind of look around. I always wind up spending way more than I intended.

I will say that I do alot of online shopping so when I do wander the mall, I'm really only buying for a few people and I don't really get stressed.

If i find something for someone - no matter WHEN it is - i'll buy it.
I've had one of Dave's presents since August....
I like to wait for the Black Friday sales - and do a LOT of shopping online that day....

Every year me and DH get up early and go the morning after Thanksgiving! And every year we say this is nuts, why did we do this!?
This year I want to start in November. We need to tone down the Christmas spending. We usually make a little list and try to divide it up. DH buys gadgets and electronics stuff and I buy the pretty and girlie things. We do most of it together though.
77 more days until Christmas!

OMG my dad is the same way!! If i don't mention shopping for my mom in early Dec, I get a phone call like 2 days before Christmas!  At that point I', baking my Christmas cookies!!

WOW...you are so organized Jeri. I make my lists, but we do a "grab bag" at Thanksgiving, so I wait till thefirst week of December.
I have 2 MAJOR shopping days I do: One is with my mom, we spend all day together the other is with my best friend and we pretty much do the same thing. Both times it's always during the weekday so no where near as crowded
