HSG tomorrow
I'm so excited that I'm getting the HSG done tomorrow, so we can hopefully move forward. Maybe we'll get some answers, maybe not- all the other tests they've done on us so far have been normal.
Did anyone have to take antibiotics (Doxycycline) before/after their HSG? I was prescribed this and reading online, it says it can be harmful to a fetus, so now I'm scared to try this month! I need to take it from today, CD9, through CD13. I should O CD 13 or 14. What do you girls think- am I safe to ttc this month?

I didn't take antibiotics before.
Do you know how long it stays in your system?
The HSG is done before you ovulate, so there is probably enough time for it to be out of your system by the time you do ovulate and/or conceive.
I'd speak to the doctor about it!

I took doxy before and I got so sick. I was vomiting. Gross. They switched me to a z-pack. It is important to take something because the HSG carries a risk of infection.
Good Luck. I hope you get some answers.. but mostly I hope all it clear!!
Don't forget to take motrin before hand!

I took the doxycycline before the HSG. It's to prevent any possible infection from the HSG. I was told it's OK to TTC the month of the HSG. Best of luck K!

I started taking it the night before the HSG. I took also the morning of, and then the dr. told me I could stop. He had originally been planning on doing an IUI that cycle, so I wouldn't be too worried about trying. It did make me nauseous that morning, but not too bad.

You are fine, they actually prescribe that anti-biotic for IVF after ER. I'm sure its safe and you aren't taking it for that long.
I found that some Doc's put you on anti-biotic for HSG and some don't. Doesn't hurt to play on the side of caution.

I didn't take any antibotics before my HSG & it went fine. My RE told me that "usually" they tell people to not TTC the month of the HSG but in my case we were given the green light!!! I would ask the Dr
