Ugh I cant take this anymore...
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO START!? Ive been on a roller coaster since June with trying to start IVF and its been one thing after another.
The dr. says this is the month we will start but i find it hard to believe!! last month i found out they most likely missed my O day. they are going to bring me in on day 18 to start my blood work and sono.
Do you think thats to early or to late? They bought me in on day 22 last month and i didnt O. I have a 30-31 day cycle but this month was 39 days i threw my cycle off because of stress. i just dont want them to miss my O day again and i have to wait another month. im just so mad!! i should of been PG already.
We were suppost to start in june its now almost the end of sept! sorry for the rant. i just needed to let it out! thanks girls

I am a little confused about your predicament. There should not be issues with your RE missing O when starting IVF. On my protocol I started the IVF cycle right after I got AF. I went on BCP 3 days after AF started, took it for 3 weeks and then started stims. Even if AF is a few days late it shouldn't prevent you from starting.

I dont know if I am missing something but my RE didnt start based on my O date. They started me based upon AF and I went in for CD3 and then started stims.

I guess it depends on what protocol you are on. I start the month prior to stimming with watching for my surge so I know what day to start my estrogen patch and ganirlex (for supression). I do not have a baseline but I did have b/w to confirm surge or O. Then when AF arrives I do baseline (which will be messed up anyway b/c estrogen will force my FSH to be around 3).
What protocol are you going to be on? so we can understand what you need to do. I honestly almost missed my surge also.

yeah I'm now confused myself. I was told they have to do blood work AFTER AF so see if I O-ed yet. I thought you just started after AF so werid I'm going to have to ask this when I go in on oct 3rd for blood work and a sono.

I'm sorry you're so frustrated..I know when we decided to move forward to IVF the anticipation was the worst part.
I do have a question though; why didn't they put you on BC pills as soon as you had AF back in June when you committed to IVF? That way they can completely control your cycle.

I do have a question though; why didn't they put you on BC pills as soon as you had AF back in June when you committed to IVF? That way they can completely control your cycle.
thats a great question!! lol he asked how my cycles where and i told them normal which they are till just a few month ago due to stress. he said THIS IS THE MONTH and I WILL START but i dont see that happening!! you would think he would of put me on them now but NOOO i dont know what this dr is doing and he is making me very mad. everyones telling me IVF doesnt have anything to do with O-ing and he is telling me my blood work has to show that im either O-ing or just O-ed to start lupron. does this make any sence to anyone im so confused and frustrated!

yeah im going to try to call on monday because this is racking my brian!!!! i just dont get it. why am I different? it doessnt make any sence to me ill update on monday IF i get a hold of someone at the office

Well I didn't take Lupron, but I think with Lupron you take it from after you O until you get AF and then start stims. I think Lupron kinda suppresses things?? I would research Lupron a little bit- that might give you some more answers as to what your doctor is looking for. But, since you seem so confused I think a phone call to your RE would help to put your mind at ease. The waiting is the absolute worst part of IVF. Once you get started it goes by very quickly!!

After ovulation
Lupron can be started after ovulation has occurred. If a woman has a 28 day menstrual cycle, she would normally ovulate around Day 14. Lupron would be started by checking a blood test to verify ovulation (progesterone level) between the 18th and 25th day. If ovulation were verified, the Lupron would then be started.
Lupron is given in IVF cycles according to patient specific protocols usually the "luteal Lupron" or "flare" protocols. Initially, Lupron stimulates the pituitary to release FSH (flare effect) within 7-10 days, however, Lupron will inhibit the production of gonadotropin releasing hormone. Since GnRH is required to cause the pituitary to produce FSH and LH, Lupron essentially "shuts down" the bodies reproductive hormone system.
While down regulated, IVF patients receive externally administered FSH (Gonal-F, Follistim) to cause the recruitment and development of follicles. Dosages of FSH are adjusted based upon each patient's response and it is continued until the follicles are mature.
Ovulation cannot occur naturally while on Lupron because LH, which triggers ovulation, is suppressed. This prevents a premature surge of LH before the retrieval, which could cause loss of the cycle. Once the eggs are mature, an injection of hCG or LH is given to stimulate ovulation and retrieval is scheduled 35 hours later.
