OPK and the 4 hour hold

is it absolutely necessary to hold it in for 4 hours? i am a pee-machine. the idea of holding it in for 4 hours causes me pain. i bought the target OPKs and it says if you have trouble with the hold, then your FMU may be accpetable. has anyone used their FMU and gotten a positive reading, or held it in for only 3 hours and had good results?

I had to do FMU with the Target brand b/c i couldnt hold it for that long during the day! and i have never received a +, so that means either i dont ovulate (which could be true since i went off BCP a few months ago), or it doesnt work well with FMU.

I have been told to not use FMU. LH doesn't show up in your urnine till afternoon.

I hold it for 3-4 hours. Sometimes I can make it the whole 4 hours, somedays it's not happening lol. But even with the 3 hour hold I have always gotten clear positive readings.

I did a 2 hour hold and received my +OPK during the 2-8pm time slots.

OK, good. i'm weary of using my FMU since i know it's not ideal. i can def hold it for 2-3 hours, 4 would be pushing it for me. thanks!!

i have always tried to do at least a 3 hour hold!

definitely test between 2 & 8:00!

I would not use FMU.

The month that I did, I only got 1 +OPK instead of the normal 2 that I got when I used afternoon urine.

Here's why:

Basically, let's pretend I was Oing on Wednesday.

Instead of getting a +OPK on Monday night and Tuesday night, then Oing on Wednesday - I'd only catch the tail end of the surge. I'd get a -OPK on Monday morning, +OPK on Tuesday morning, and -OPK on Wednesday morning. In doing so, I wouldn't know to BD on Monday also which is a great day in terms of timing for BFP.

You can hold your urine for 3 hours too, I'm sure that would be fine!

I rarely hold for 4 hours (it is impossible with how much I drink). I have gotten MANY positive readings after holding anywhere from 2.5-3.5 hours.

I don't use FMU at all. If I have to test in the AM (for IUI reasoning), I test around 10ish, after my FMU....

Me too!!! I am horrible with holding and not drinking for 4 hours forget. I bought the saliva microscope, I still havent seen any signs of ovulation on it, but I will let you know how it works.

I usually only held it for 2 hours and got a positive OPK.
